OCTOBER 2013 Student leaders awarded new titles, wider roles...

Advanced Martial Arts and Fitness is pleased to announce the promotion of three long-time members as apprentice instructors, supporting the development of our growing Kali Sikaran team. Dave Shoebridge, Jess Sandon and Rod Hutchins have been awarded the title Kasama, meaning apprentice, and will be assisting in classes and working towards their instructor rank. Kasama Dave has also joined our staff, taking on administration duties on Mondays and Wednesdays as well as assisting in Kali Sikaran beginners and intermediate classes. Club owner, Kadua Guro Mike Waite said all three students had contributed to the development of the club.

“Kasama Jess has been helping out in the beginners Kali classes for many years,” he said. “She has played a crucial role in the growth of Kali at AMAF. “Kasama Rod has recently stepped up to the role, while Kasama Dave will be my right hand man in begin-ners and intermediate Kali Sikaran classes.” Students are asked to show their respect towards our new apprentice instructors by using their correct titles during class.

Kali Summer Camp Following the success of Kali Sikaran founder and International Kali Arnis Escrima Federation (IKAEF) Technical Director Punong Guro Jeff Espinous’ tour to Perth last month, we have several exciting training opportunities planned for 2014.

conduct more seminars at AMAF in February, then in July we will take a team to the Kali Sikaran summer camp to be held in Italy.

Following the camp, our team has the exclusive opportunity to partici-pate in one week of private training with Punong Guro Jeff in France.
