Spring is for New (Earlier) BeginningsThe morning is a beautiful time It can be the next chapter of an exciting adventure or the perfectopportunity to let go and begin again Let us celebrate each new day by getting started just a teensy bitearlier Beginning on April 01 the 1st service will begin at 900 AM No changes will be made to theservice format or duration The only difference is the first service will begin thirty minutes earlier as ofSunday April 01 Making this change will free up the current Youth RE room being used by the Adult REclass as we will have the Adult RE class meet in Chandler Hall beginning at its usual time of 1000 AMThe second service will still begin at 1100 AM

The Earth Laughs in FlowersHerersquos a story Long ago a cathedral was being built It took many people a long time to build the massive structureStone was cut and laid in place for the walls and buttresses brightly colored glass was cut and piecedtogether to create dazzling pictures in the windows and wood was carved into benches for people to situpon It was an immense effort A visitor came to see all of the work being done He asked one of the stone cutters about the work Thestone cutter explained ldquoI am cutting this stone exactly to fit here to make this wallrdquo The visitor asked oneof the glass cutters about the work being done The glass cutter explained ldquoI am assembling this blueglass to create a picture of a waterfallrdquo The woodcutter explained that this particular bench was for thechoir loft The visitor noticed an older woman carefully sweeping up stone dust glass shards and wood chips Thevisitor asked her ldquoAnd what are you doingrdquo The woman looked up from her work with mild impatienceldquoIrsquom creating a cathedral to worship the greatness of Godrdquo I love this story because it reminds me of how a congregation only happens because everyone doessomething to make it happen Itrsquos not like a lecture or a play where some create and others simply listenand watch On Sunday morning worship only happens when we all come together with our bodies breathand voices and create the beauty of this place Another way to add beauty to our worship is to provide flowers for the chancel You can sign up to either bring a flower arrangement or give $25 for our Flower Team to prepare anarrangement Your name will be included in that weekrsquos order of service along with any occasion you aremarking such as an anniversary or birthday Arrangements of flowers and plants from your own garden are welcome Some of my better arrangementshave included weeds and grasses that just happened to be growing with more vigor than my flowersThere are vases in the kitchen that you are welcome to use If you bring a container from home pleasemark it with your name and contact information so that it will get back to you promptly The Flower sign-up sheet is posted across from the kitchen If you have questions please reach out toPam Mayes or April in the office
