This is why we ought to live sacrificially for our fellow believers, and not just be out for ourselves. If you see some brother or sister in need and have the means to do something about it but turn a cold shoulder and do nothing, what happens to God’s love? It disappears. And you made it disappear. My dear children, let’s not just talk about love; let’s practice real love.” I John 3:16-18 (The Message)

If you missed the offering basket this morning, offering boxes are in the Atrium.

For people of faith, living generously means allowing God to use every aspect of your life—your time and energy, your talents and influence, your priorities and possessions—for His purposes.

2014 Finance Report

Congratulations! Congratulations to Athena Tarulli and Matthew Loney on their marriage that was held at Fellowship on August 9, 2014. The happy couple will reside in Columbus and will relocate to Matthew’s permanent station in the United States Army at Fort Drum, New York, in several months, upon completion of his Officer Training.

Pastor Chris Henkaline will begin his ministry at Fellowship next Sunday, August 24, preaching a series out of the Book of Acts. Please pray for Chris & Laura and their children as they settle into life here in the Chagrin Valley.

Pastor Chris Henkaline

Each month the Women’s Ministry will share a verse to unite our hearts and minds. The verse will be listed in the Bulletin, posted on the church’s website, or you can pick up a memory card in the Atrium.

August Memory Verse: “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.” Colossians 3:15

Memory Verse

Elder Update—August 2014 As the Elders joined together in prayer at a recent meeting, we spent the first hour sharing and praying about the next step in the life of Fellowship. We have been asking ourselves, “What did we learn from this transition experience?” “What does it mean to continue to grow as a body and in our community?” “What does Jesus Christ want us to recognize, foster and focus on as we look to this next chapter?” We are absolutely excited about our new lead pastor, Chris Henkaline, coming to lead our body beginning August 24. As we have come to know Chris, he would be the first to say this is not about him, but about life transformation, which means people coming to Christ and Christians becoming more like Him. It is not about the Elders, or the Staff, or any one of us individually, but it is about shifting our focus to become an Acts 2 church which “lives our faith out loud” wherever the Lord has placed us. This next chapter will be a journey that will include becoming an active participant in the community, in our families and in our individual walk with Christ. It will be about building a vision that will draw each other and the unchurched to Jesus. Our deep desire is to be united as a Body, which is bound together with trust and respect. When these elements are in place, we will be a light in the Valley and a tangible demonstration of the love of Christ. The challenge for each of us is, “What is my role and responsibility as we transition and welcome Chris as our new lead pastor?” We encourage you to spend time in prayer individually and as a Community Group, pondering this question. Ask God to fill you with the Holy Spirit, then be open to what He has to say. Thank you to all for your love and support for Fellowship!

Bob Nosal, on behalf of the Elders

Growing Deeper Ladies, come to Fellowship for Bring Your Own Craft (BYOC) on Saturday, August 23, 9AM-NOON. Work on your craft projects while enjoying the company of other women! Financial Peace is a nine-week life-changing class on personal finance designed to empower you to manage money better and eliminate debt. This isn’t your typical “money class” - it’s practical, entertaining, and fun! The class begins on Thursday, September 18, 6:30PM-8PM. Sign up in the Atrium; indicate whether you need childcare. Contact Terry Klebes ([email protected] or 440.543.5643 x233) with questions. How can you use your spiritual gifts, heart, abilities, personality and experiences (SHAPE) to benefit the Kingdom? Find out at Gifted2Serve, a five-week class beginning Sunday, September 21, 9AM-10:15AM. Registration will begin August 24. Questions? Contact Tish Luciano (440.543.5643 x222 or [email protected]). Christians for Cleveland Browns invites you to join all excited Browns fans to watch their 1PM games on Sundays, starting September 7, 12:30PM, in the Fireplace Room. Sign up with Steve & Joanie Westphal in the Atrium, or email Steve ([email protected]) to receive information for this upcoming season. Ask Steve or Joanie if there is anything they need assistance with to make this a great experience for all. GO BROWNS! Elementary parents (2014-2015 Kindergarten through Grade 5) - Promotion Sunday is Sunday, August 24! On that morning, your child will check in at their new classroom. We would like all parents to re-register their children for their new grade level. This will enable us to update allergy information, contact information (particularly email addresses), and make sure that every student is listed on the correct class list. We have changed the registration cards so that you can register all of your children on one card. Cards will be available in your child’s new classroom on August 24, or check in at the front desk in the Children’s Atrium. Children’s Ministry Families, join us at our end-of-the-year picnic on Sunday, August 24, 12:15PM! Bring lawn chairs, blankets and your families’ picnic lunch. We will provide lemonade, sweet treats, fun games, and a few surprises. Sign up in your children’s classroom when you drop them off or pick them up today!

Unleash Love If you would like to join Fellowship’s Children’s Ministry Elementary Small Group Leader Team, please come to the Fellowship Fireplace Room on Monday, August 18, 7PM (the Sunday meeting has been combined with the Monday meeting). There will be food, fellowship, fun, and a training time for the upcoming year of ministry. Please RSVP to Delene Kirtland (440.543.5643 x231 or [email protected]). Fellowship is hosting an American Red Cross Blood Drive on Saturday, August 30, 8:30AM-1PM. Blood is always in short supply, so please consider donating, which only takes 30-45 minutes of your time and can help save lives. If you are unable to donate blood, but still want to help make a difference, consider volunteering to sign in donors or to assist and serve in the refreshment area at the blood drive. Contact Laura Burks (877.413.8103 or [email protected]). Every 5th Sunday, Fellowship collects and distributes food items to the Chagrin Falls Park Food Bank. Please grab a blue Unleash Love grocery bag in the Atrium along with a list of needed items. Then, fill the bag and bring it back on Sunday, August 31. If you have questions or want to help sort food on August 31, 6PM, contact Ellen Goddard ([email protected]). Thanks for unleashing love to those in need! The Scranton Road Health Fair is Saturday, September 13. We will be serving in many capacities. Volunteer registration will be available on the website this week. Heroes Wanted...you don’t need super powers to serve, just a super love that will be a powerful tool in God’s hands! As we gear up for AWANA, there are many opportunities for you to serve. Stop by the kiosk in the Atrium and meet Marty Vanek, 2014-2015 AWANA Commander, and see how you can be part of this significant ministry to our children, ages one to two years before kindergarten through 5th grade.

The Movement Come celebrate a new beginning for Fellowship...featuring some of Cleveland’s top Gospel musicians. The Movement is just that...a movement of the Spirit of God for the Church. Their hearts of worship shine through as they bring the Glory of the Lord to the People of God in song. Bring friends and come to the Worship Center TONIGHT at 6PM.
