Catering: A light lunch will be provided at 12.00 noon, courtesy of Ambersun Alpacas.

Registration: All prospective buyers must register at the Landmark Buyer Registration Office on site prior to the auction. Terms are strictly cash unless prior arrangements have been made with the auctioneers.

Terms and Conditions: All stock is offered under standard terms and conditions. These are available from the auctioneers and are displayed around the auction venue. GST will be charged on top of bid price ie $2,000 + $200 GST.

AAA Male Certification: All male certifications are at the purchasers expense. Ambersun Alpacas offers a certification and fertility guarantee for males sold for more than $2,500.

Pregnancies: The vendors agree to remate any female listed as having been mated, should the current pregnancy not hold. This offer is only valid for 12 months from the auction date, to the male listed, and the remate is to occur at Ambersun Alpacas.

Unreserved Auction: All alpacas are for unreserved sale, with a minimum opening bid of $400.

Location: Ambersun Alpacas is approximately one hour drive from the Adelaide CBD. The farm is located on the Main Road to Victor Harbor, 2.5 kilometres south of the township of Mount Compass. Follow the A13 and take the turnoff to Victor Harbor. Property number 2721. Look for the Landmark signs.

This year, Ambersun Alpacas celebrates its 20th year in the alpaca industry. Chris Williams and Adrienne Clarke are as passionate towards their alpacas today as they were when they started, with just a handful of six alpacas in 1992.

Ambersun Alpacas has now grown to over 1,000 alpacas, with herds established in New Zealand, England, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, Holland, Germany and of course, Australia. Chris and Adrienne consider themselves extremely fortunate in having an international network of alpaca colleagues and friends.

For many years, Ambersun has been acknowledged for its success in breeding quality alpacas. Amongst these successes are many awards for Best of Colour in white, fawn, brown, grey, black and fancy alpacas.

This auction, they named True Colours, to reflect their appreciation and respect for the myriad of beautiful alpaca colours, and their motivation to embrace and excel in breeding advanced fleece traits into the comprehensive range of coloured alpacas.

A very attractive champagne coloured breeding female. She is upstanding and proud, with correct and balanced proportions and conformation. She is true to type with good overall coverage.

The soft handle of her fleece is one of her greatest virtues. It feels creamy and smooth like butter, with brilliant lustre. Alibi is one of the finest in the auction, with her current fleece testing at an impressive 16.9 microns (and 3.1 SD). The fleece also displays a delicate crimp style.

Through her father, Ambersun Distinction ET, Alibi carries some of the genetics of Purrumbete Echo, one of the great matriarchs of the Ambersun herd.

Lilka displays a bright, highly lustrous fleece with a delicate crimp structure. Her fleece is fine, and appears free of gard hair.

She is true to type, with a sound and well proportioned frame.

Her pedigree includes some notable identities of the alpaca industry, going back to Purrumbete Inti and Benleigh Flame on her sires side, and Peruvian Auzengate from her dam’s side. A two in one package combining some special genetics!

An eye catching young female with a delightful rose grey coloured fleece. She is the complete package, displaying excellent fleece traits on a balanced, correctly proportioned frame.

The fleece is silky soft with brilliant sheen and lustre. It is superfine, testing at a low 17.7 microns, and displays a delicate crimp structure consistently across the body. She has good leg and head coverage and a good level of fleece density.

Brazilian Rose has an impressive pedigree, with Peruvian genetics through both parents, including Peruvian Black Reign and Peruvian Auzengate. She is sired by Alpaca specialist Picasso, a solid black male, known for passing on advanced fleece traits to his highly awarded cria.

An upstanding solid black female with a good frame and correct conformation. She is a true black, with black parentage on both sides of her pedigree. Her last mating to Alpacaspecialist Picasso produced a stylish rose grey female cria (see lot 3: Brazilian Rose). She is a sound breeding female and good mother.

She has been mated to the award winning black sire Leaenna Armani, providing the purchaser with the opportunity to access some otherwise unavailable superior black genetics.

One of the cutest inclusions in the auction, with angelic features and great fleece coverage over her young body.

Her colour is somewhat of a surprise package when the fleece is opened, as her colour is a pinky shade of light grey. She is evenly coloured and produces excellent fleece growth for age. Her fleece is fine, testing at 17.6 microns.

Opal Rose is the only Jolimont Tiberio daughter available in the auction. She is an ideal selection for breeders pursuing grey genetics, as she has multiple generations of grey in her pedigree.

Without question, Fabienne is one of the outstanding stars of the auction, and is a recent addition to the Ambersun show team. We are a little embarrassed to admit that we didn’t discover her much earlier

She has advanced fleece properties. She is the finest alpaca being offered at the True Colours auction, tested at a remarkable 15.0 microns and an SD as low as 3.2. Some only dream of achieving this micron in their herd, and so rarely are females of this calibre made available for sale.

The fleece displays high amplitude crimp structure which locks into well defined bundles. The fleece is luminous white, with brilliant lustre. She is true to type, with a balanced and correct frame, gorgeous head and great coverage.

Fabienne is sired by Jolimont Cassius, a descendant of Jolimont Sculptor and a multiple Supreme Champion winner in his own right. Fabienne’s dam, Ambersun Fontenay, is sired by Jolimont Warrior, with the imported NWA El Sol also in her impressive pedigree.

Fabienne proudly displays those sought after qualities that competitive alpaca breeders must aspire to breed.

A statuesque light fawn daughter of Jolimont Warrior, she has inherited his correct solid frame, attractive head and soft, square muzzle.

Petrina carries a fine fleece (19.7 microns, second fleece), which displays high amplitude crimp which falls into well defined, fine pencilling staples. The fleece lacks evidence of gard hair, supported by the low coefficient of variation in the tested fleece sample (C of V 16.6%)

She is true to type, with good coverage extending down the legs.

Petrina has been mated to Winterbrook Prince John, an outstanding mature sire, holding a remarkable fleece micron of 22.8 microns at 12 years of age.

Chrysler displays a fleece with excellent character, with a deep bold amplitude crimp style, that is consistent across his body. He exhibits good finenenss for age, and excellent density.

He is correctly proportioned, with solid bone, and is well conformed.

For those contemplating an appaloosa breeding program for the future, Speck Tacular introduces the spotted markings within an impressive, quality fleece. He has grown a lengthy fleece for age, which falls into solid staples, and should produce good fleece weight upon shearing. The fleece displays high frequency crimp, and is soft handling and lustrous.

Speck Tacular is sired by Ambersun’s leopard appaloosa male, Ambersun Jag who has been a winner of a multitude of broad ribbons, and is the sire of the Best Fancy (appaloosa) from the 2012 Victorian Colourbration Show and the 2012 Charles Ledger Show (NSW).

Scally Wag is an attractive, true to type black female. She has peruvian ancestry in her pedigree, bringing black Peruvian genetics through from her dam’s side (Ambersun Chaparral Peruvian Cortez), and Peruvian Auzengate on her sire’s side.

On shearing, Gold Plated should cut an impressive fleece weight, because her fleece displays excellent density, good length for age, and heavy bundling locks.

These fleece qualities she can likely attribute to her sire, Ambersun Lord Chancellor, who at the 2011 National Show won Supreme Champion Fleece and the Most Valuable Commercial Fleece. Gold Plated is the only Lord Chancellor daughter being offered in the auction, and should be highly sought for these award winning genetics.


Emma J is a reluctant release from the Ambersun herd that should be eagerly sought by the alpaca breeder following successful genetic lines.
