Can’t believe it is June already! It didn’t seem that long ago when we were scraping snow off our vehicles. We welcome the summer with plenty to do on the calendar, and that is especially true in the month of June. This past month we celebrated Cinco De Mayo and also Memorial Day! We had plenty of bus trips as we took a tour of the Meyer May house, went on a few tulip time and apple blossom ride outs, and even went to a West Michigan Whitecaps game. We were also sad to see our friend Caitlyn go off to graduate school in Boston. She will be missed by many. Looking forward to the month of June, we will get to watch performers such as the senior stair steppers, and Chris Sloan for our monthly birthday party. We also have Flag Day to look forward to on the 14th of the month! A few of this month’s ride outs include a pizza picnic, plenty of donuts, ice cream ride outs, and a trip to the Grand Rapids Market and Herman’s Boy in Rockford. A special thank you to all the Fathers of Allen Springs; we hope you have a great Father’s Day on the 19th of the month. Be sure to sign up early to secure your spot for all the activities provided. Chaplain’s CornerINCREASING YOUR HOPE—

REFOCUS ON THE FUTUREWhat is your response to

discouraging circumstances in yourlife? Do you get down and staythere? Or can you pivot and refocuson the future? The Bible points usto the latter: One thing I do,forgetting what is behind, I lookforward to what is ahead. Phil. 3:13

The ability to refocus on thefuture includes a number ofbenefits. Here are two.

Benefit #1—Passion ReplacesApathy and Discouragement

Benefit #2—You ExperienceGreat Comebacks

American surfer BethanyHamilton did just that when sherefocused from the discouragementof having her surfing career endwhen her left arm was bitten off bya shark. Despite this terriblecircumstance, she decided torefocus on her future of being aprofessional surfer and

consequently learned to surf with onearm. What a comeback!

The Bible is filled with greatcomeback stories. Consider these:

• Thomas started out wracked bydoubt but ended up taking thegospel all the way to India.

• Moses did nothing significant forthe first two-thirds of his life—which I find encouraging—butended up delivering two millionpeople from centuries of slavery.

• Paul started out persecutingChristians but ended up writingthe majority of the NewTestament.

• Jesus Christ—talk about acomeback, he rose fromthe dead!

How about you? What is yourfocus on today?
