AMERICAN IDIOT – GREEN DAY

The font is called “Dirty Headline”, used for the band title, showcases a bold and strong symbol of their band. The band are introducing the concept as the band title is bold, unlike the album name.

The hand holding the grenade relates to the album title of an American Idiot, which has the same red colour as the grenade. The album draws attention to America’s imperialist past, and desire to conquer the world. The hand grenade is symbolic as it represents war, yet the pin is pointing at the word idiot which shows that war is stupid.

The colour scheme of white and red have a couple of representations, the first being the American flag colours, and the second of violence and blood, which is shown by the image of the white hand holding a red, heart-shaped grenade, with blood dripping down the hand.
