The 2018‐2019 academic school year
was very even ul for the American Indian/
Alaskan Na ve community at Porterville College.
The week prior to the Fall semester start, PC
hosted the annual Welcome Back Orienta on for
Na ve American students. At this event,
students have the opportunity to get acclimated
for the upcoming semester with workshops and
networking with their peers. A endees receive
free school supplies to assist them in their
academic success during the school year.
Throughout the year, the Na ve
American Club hosted a series of outreach and
fundraising events to recruit club members and
funds for the club’s events. Porterville College
appreciates the club’s efforts in spreading Na ve
American Awareness on campus and
acknowledges their hard work and success!
We had thirteen American Indian/
Alaskan Na ve students that graduated this year.
We celebrated their accomplishments at the End of the Year Recogni on Brunch where students and their families
were invited to a celebratory brunch event at the end of the Spring semester. The graduates also had the
opportunity to par cipate in the annual Commencement Ceremony to celebrate this milestone. Porterville College
is so proud of our graduates, congratula ons Class of 2019!

The Na ve American Club did out‐reach at the annual Pow Wow event along with the Equity Direc‐tor, Kimanthi, and Club Advisor, Maria. The Pow Wow is an annual cultural event held at McCarthy Ranch at the Tule River Reserva‐
on.
Indian Taco Sale October 30, 2018
The Indian Taco Sale was a total hit, as usual! The Na ve
American club members hand made the delicious tacos that
the PC campus loves.
Fall Fundraiser November 27, 2018
The Na ve American Club sold hot dogs, chili dogs, and nachos to fundraise funds for the club.
Community Outreach Sept. 13, 2018 & Jan. 3, 2019
Porterville College staff does outreach to encourage Na ve Americans in the community to a end col‐

End of the Year Recogni on Brunch
April 11, 2019
We celebrated the 2018‐2019 graduates
at our annual recogni on ceremony. We
invited community members and the
graduates families to celebrate their
success.
Shrimp Cocktail Sale April 29, 2019
The Na ve American Club hosted their first Shrimp Cocktail Sale during the
Spring semester. The club was able to raise funds for
future club events.
End of the Year Club Lunch May 17, 2019
The Na ve American Club hosted an End of the Year luncheon at Pizza Factory where they had their last mee ng and celebrated the year’s accomplishments.
UC Berkeley Trip April 12, 2019
The Na ve American Club’s annual college trip took place at UC Berke‐ley this year. Students enjoyed breakfast at iHop during their lengthy road trip then toured the beau ful university in the Bay Area.
