Outreach Lessons LearnedOutreach Lessons Learned• Allow more time between end of Overview presentation
and beginning of first period to organize the students
• With SciTech starting so early in the year, need to complete Outreach planning by early December
• As part of discussion of outreach focus (whether general STEM, engineering track, less connected to the aerospace industry) gender diversity is also a desire – This year 5 out of 70 students were girls– We should ensure teacher invites girls from other classes if they
are not regularly part of robotics club
10
Forward WorkForward Work• Start selecting school in San Diego for SciTech
2016 Outreach event– Perhaps focus on middle school
• Revamp the Outreach Overview for SLS, Commercial Crew, or futuristic Mars Mission– Nathan Falkiewicz is the POC
• Revive Short Course– Reinforce presence of structural dynamics at SciTech– Ted Rose has been POC but is rotating off; he is willing
to assist in this effort– Looking for copy of Andy Brown’s short course
