This home is currently a 4-bedroom 2-bath ranch on slab in the Northern Section of Howell Township. Though this represents AMIB’s 3rd home in Howell, the township is large enough to accommodate multiple group homes that are distanced enough, not to be considered overcrowding, but still close enough to still share staff time and resources with each other. This home was built in 1971 and structurally is in solid condition. The recent upgrades by the previous owner were mostly cosmetic, so in order to bring it up to AMIB standards, additional living space will be added to the rear of the house and replacement of roofing, siding, windows and flooring will be required. The slab on grade allows us to seamlessly blend into the neighborhood with sloped concrete for wheelchair access into and out of the home, while allowing a one-level environment for the residents inside the home. Hope this letter finds you well.

As of 6/30/2019 AMIB celebrated our first

fiscal year end in a new fee-for-service environment established by the New Jersey and Medicaid regulations wherein AMIB bills Medicaid directly for the days in which the individuals occupy the residence and receive direct care services. I applaud our operations and accounting personnel for implementing the systems we began training for and developing three years ago.

As we also celebrate the one-year anniversary of the Tinton Falls/Shrewsbury 14th group home opening, we are currently walking through our 15th and 16th group homes soliciting bids from contractors to hopefully begin the accessible renovations required by our clientele by mid-November of this year. Like us on Facebook to keep up to date on our progress.

Dear Friend

We are excited to inform you that AMIB has now completed the purchase of two ranch homes (1 in

Ocean County and 1 in Monmouth County) and is now launching phase two of our 15th & 16th group home project to renovate them to make way for eight more blind/visually impaired multiplied impaired New Jersey individuals who are waiting to live in one of our AMIB group homes. By way of our newsletter, Facebook and website we’ll keep you apprised of our progress.

In this issue you’ll find photos of summer activities our residents enjoyed, the naming of one of our group homes and a glimpse of the Employee Appreciation Day that was held for our outstanding staff in September.

We thank you for your continued interest in and support of AMIB Kenneth P. Carson

On July 28, 2019 AMIB held an open house at their Wall Group Home to formally name this group home in honor of Dan McCarthy, who

served on the AMIB Board of Trustees for almost 30 years. He passed away in June, 2018, (see Tribute to Dan in our Fall, 2018 newsletter). Family and friends of Dan gathered for light refreshments, a tour of the home and a brief naming ceremony, honoring Dan for his dedication and many contributions to AMIB.

A Bequest to the AMIB Endowment Fund

A tax-deductible bequest in your will is an excellent way to become a member of The Legacy Society and make a significant gift that may not be possible during a lifetime. If you have an up-to-date will and want to include a provision to provide permanent assurance of the future for AMIB residents, ask your attorney to add an amendment, known as a codicil. Suggested wording for a will or codicil could be:

“I give and bequeath to the AMIB Endowment Fund, 35 Beaverson Boulevard, Suite 13, Brick, New Jersey 08723-7812, the sum of $_____________________________ (or ________ percent of my estate) and/or the following property ______________________________________________.”

Some other opportunities to make a planned gift to AMIB’s Endowment Fund and become a member of The Legacy Society include: creating a charitable remainder trust; donating a paid-up insurance policy; and arranging for a gift of appreciated long-term capital gain securities or real estate.
