Project Management Support: Practical Security '97: An Information Systems Security Training Program. Williamsburg, VA. Provided administrative and technical support. Designed database to track conference attendance and accounting: attendees, speakers, vendors and payments. Acted as a central contact point for attendees, speakers and vendors. Designed marketing materials and training program certificate. Also supported conference in preparing attendee materials, obtaining A/V equipment, and served as "information desk." As Graduate Research Assistant to Dr. George Andrykovitch, researched and developed protocols to determine the physical and biochemical characterization of a novel marine bacterium. Performed ultrastructural examinations (transmission and scanning electron microscopy) of the exopolysaccharide (EPS) production capabilities of the organism and the biofilm mode of growth. Prepared a paper on the results of my work. Reviewed the literature, prepared growth media and maintained stock cultures. Isolated the EPS, developed a procedure for its purification and prepared sugar standards for future analyses on the HPLC. Analyzed the data and summarized the results using Lotus 1-2-3 and SigmaPlot software.
