Control of Equipment

Tools and equipment must be approved for use Listed in the written work instruction

Examples: • Use non-sparking material for shoe soles• Tools made of materials compatible with explosives• Machinery bonded and earthed

Cleanliness

Cleanliness, tidiness, ‘good housekeeping’

Examples:• Clean tools and equipment• Clear rubbish and debris from doors• Minimise flammable materials• Segregate explosive waste from other waste• Use separate changing room for staff

Supervision and Competency

IATG 07:10 defines competent personnel as:

• Trained to an appropriate level on the specific task• Educated to an appropriate level about risks inherent

in handling and processing ammunition and explosives

• Gained sufficient experience of the task under direct supervision, so as to be considered safe to work
