Everyoneisaci-zenoftheworld.Atsomelevelweshouldallbeitsstewardswithaccountabilitytowardpreservingitsenvironment.Onecomponentofthatisthepreserva-onofdarkskiesorthepreven-onoflightpollu-on.Thepreserva-onofdarkskiesisimportantformanyreasonsincludingastronomy,energyconserva-on,cost,wildlifeandevenhumanhealth.ThroughtheDarkSkiesRangerProgram,studentslearnabouttheimportanceofdarkskiesandexperienceac-vi-esthatillustrateproperligh-ng,lightpollu-on’seffectsonwildlifeandhowtomeasurethedarknessofyourskies.Ahighlightoftheprogramistheci-zenscienceproject,GLOBEatNight,whichenliststhehelpofstudentsandadultstocollectdataonthenightskybrightnessintheircommunityandcontributetoaworldwidedatabaseonlightpollu-on.

In2012therewillbe4GLOBEatNightcampaigns.ThefirstcampaignisJanuary14–23.ThesecondcampaignisFebruary12–21.ThethirdcampaignisMarch14–23andthefourthcampaignisApril11–20.
