2012 STACKED GRADENS;

Studio OxL has designed a definite design for a transformation of a small house into a stacked garden loft in Nijmegen.

Studio OxL has developed a definite design for the transformation of a small house into a stacked garden loft in Nijmegen.

To enhance the relation between interior and exterior the client demanded a complete glass backside. This way daylight could penetrate the basement in order for it to become the sleeping room. The rest of the private spaces are positioned in a white volume on ground level. This volume is lifted in order to generate headspace in the basement and prevent expensive digging or foundation mutation. This decision generated extra budget for the interior and sustained a higher quality of material usage.

In order to get more privacy on the first floor the kitchen box is positioned above the bathroom and in front of the living room. This volume prevents overheating and facilitates a temporary library that can be turn into storage if necessary.
