• To investigated the attitude of Hong Kong citizens towards keeping animals as pets

• Animal protection policies carried out by the Hong Kong Government

• Solutions to combat the problem of animal cruelty

Mistakes made by AFCD

AFCD (Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department)

• 56% of the Dog Licensing has already overdue• There are 12,494 dogs are illegally staying in the

public housing • Fail to prosecute people who reject to take back their pets• Using 3 million HKD/yr to manage the stray animals,

wasting lots of resources• Do not keep complete record for the lost pet• Accusation cannot be carry on because of the over

duration

service order• =>meaningless and has no

deterrent effect.

United Kingdom:

jailed for up to 51 weeks

Italy:

imprisonment( 3 months to 3 years)

fined up to £160,000

HK government is not serious about animal cruelty :

Government should have harsher policy

• Education is definitely insufficient

• To participate activities held by the volunteer organizations

• Improve current policies
