etc. for a non-profit board of some kind…for some time now. Whether it’s a local

school board or some other advocacy group. And every

experience and meeting begins & ends the same….

1. Help your meetings run smoother & end faster

2. Provide necessary closure as well as follow-ups

10. Leaving 10-15 Minutes at the close of each

meeting for “Open Mic”.

9. Activate a “Seargent of Arms” to Keep

comments/responses to 2 minutes with a “one comment per topic” clause so as many

as possible can speak.

8. Request & share committee reports with the entire board for NO LESS

than 1 week before meeting.

7. Provide Video Tele-Conference options as often as possible (i.e. during bad

weather).

6. Meet at least once, face to face, either quarterly or

annually ~ Go out for dinner….instead of pulling

your hair out…..

5. And after all of that, if you’re still unable to make headway, begin charging a

small assessment for tardiness and

unpreparedness (to be placed in special fund for board

training).

4. ALWAYS, ALWAYS: Have a copy of your current

bylaws readily available.

3. Don’t pile on too much at once (apply meeting

structure, i.e. Old Business then New Business).

saturated players where possible.
