• Increasing the level of responsibility – NHS Tutoring on Wednesdays and Thursdays (activity bus available)

• Greater number of long-term assignments

Academic Eligibility

• Eligibility is determined each quarter

• Must achieve a minimum of 2.0 for the quarter; no more than one E

• Ineligibility remains in effect until the next quarter report card is distributed

Summer School

• When is summer school necessary? - English, math, prerequisites, total credits • Locations and costs - Limited locations, provide own transportation - Summer school cost is appox. $300 per course

• Registration Procedures

THE ACT

• ACT changed in Spring, 2005

- Writing section is optional

- Increasing number of schools are

- More achievement-oriented test

- Cost is $47.00; no writing $32.00; late

fee is $21.00

ACCUPLACER

• Students attending MC must qualify to take college level classes

• Accuplacer is placement test

• Offered to DHS seniors in October

• Qualification is based on an SAT score of 550 in Critical Reading, Math, and Writing (total of 1650 out of 2400) or ACT score of 24 (out of 36)

DHS COURSE REGISTRATION

• Course level recommendations done by 1st semester teachers in January

• Registration materials to students early March• Students return completed and signed

registration card to counselor• Course offering booklet distributed to all DHS
