Navigating and Adjusting Parameters with the Onboard GUIItispossibletoadjustmostparametersoftheAPA1200DSPontheunititselfviathedisplayandcontrolknob.Forinitialsetupofthedevice,itisrecommendedtoconnecttotheweb-basedGUI(seethenextsection),astheonboardGUIisbetterformakingquickadjustmentsonthefly,ratherthanmanyadjustmentsatonce.Formoreinformationabouteachmenuoptionandparametertype,seethecorrespondingsectionslaterinthisguide.Instructions:

1. Rotating the dialwillmovetothenextmenuoptionorincrease/decreaseavaluedependingonthecurrentcontextofthemenu.Thecurrentlyselectedparameterwillbehighlighted.

2. Pressing the dialonceselectsagivenparameteroradvancesfurtherintothemenu(goforward).3. Quickly pressing the dial twicereturnstothepreviouspageorpreviouslevelofthemenu(gobackward).

Forexample,ifyouareinthePEQmenu,youwillclicktheknoboncetoselectaparametersuchasfrequen-cy.Youcanthenrotatethedialtochangethisfrequency.Whenyouaredone,pressthedialtwicetogoback,allowingyoutoselectadifferentparametertochange.

4. Long pressing the control knobinthemenusofvolume,LPF,PEQ,HPF,PhaseDegreeandlimiter willallowyouto‘link’theAandBchannelstogether,whichmeansthatallparameterswithinthemenuwillaffectbothchannels.Longpressingagainwillallowyouto‘unlink’thechannelsandcreateindividualsettingsforeachchannel.

Network Connection and Accessing the Web Based GUITheweb-basedGUIwillallowcontrolofallfunctionsoftheamplifierthroughthewebbrowserofanydeviceonthesamenetwork(cellphone,laptop,tablet,etc).

Steps:1. ConnecttheAPA1200DSPtoarouterornetworkswitchviaastandardethernetpatchcable.Plugoneendofthe

patchcableintoyourrouter/switch,andplugtheotherendintotheLANportonthebackoftheAPA1200DSP(TheAPA1200DSPcannotbeattachedtoyournetworkviaWi-Fi,howeverWi-Fidevices,suchasalaptop,canwirelesslyaccesstheAPA120DSP’swebGUI).Note: TheAPA1200DSPwillworkwithoutanexternalinternetcon-nection,meaningthenetworkneedstobeestablished,butitdoesnotrequireconnectiontoaserviceprovider.

2. Oncethedeviceisconnectedtothenetworkviaethernet,thewebinterfacecanbereachedusinganydevicewithawebbrowseronthesamenetworkastheAPA1200DSP(laptop,cellphone,tablet,desktop,etc).Enterhttp://APA1200DSP/intotheaddressbarofyourbrowsertoconnecttothebrowserGUI.Note: IfmultipleAPA1200DSPunitsareonyournetwork,thislinkcannotbeused,andyoumustfollowthenextsteptofindtheuniqueIPaddressofeachdevice.

3. ThebrowserGUIcanalsobeaccessedbydirectlyenteringtheIPaddressofyourAPA1200DSPintoyourwebbrowser.ThisIPaddresscanbefoundbyenteringthedeviceinfoscreenusingthebuilt-indisplayashighlightedbelow.EntertheIPaddressintotheaddressbarofyourwebbrowser.

Network TroubleshootingA. If using the link http://APA1200DSP/andyoucannotmakeaconnection,tryfollowingstep3abovetofindtheIP

addressofyourdevice,andconnecttoyourdevicebyenteringtheIPaddressintoyourwebbrowser.B. MakesurethatyouareusingadevicethatisonthesamenetworkasyourAPA1200DSPtoaccesstheinter-

face.ThedeviceyouareusingforaccesscanbeconnectedeitherthroughWi-Fi,likealaptop,ordirectlytothenetworkwithapatchcablelikeyoumightdoonadesktopPC.Insomesituations,especiallyinbusinesses,theremightbemultipleWi-Finetworksinthebuilding,andtheoneyouareconnectingtomightnotbethesameactu-alnetworkastheethernetportyoupluggedyourAPA1200DSPto.

Web GUI Overview

TheseGUIelementswillalwaysbepresentwhileusingtheAPA1200DSP’swebinterface.Enterdifferentmenusbyclickingmenuitemsontheleftsideofyourscreen.

A. Menu – DisplaysallmenuoptionsavailableontheAPA1200DSP.Clickonthetextofeachmenuitemtoenterthatmenu.The“Home”sectionofthemenucanbecontractedorexpandedbyclickingonit.

B. Level Meter - DisplaysinputandoutputlevelsindB.Ifyouarenotgettinganyoutputfromyourconnect-edspeaker,butyouseethatthereisoutputfromthelevelmeter,checktheconnectionfromtheamptoyourspeaker.

1. The“M”buttonsnexttotheoutputlabelcanbeusedtomutetheoutputofyourAPA1200DSP.C. Output Mode – Setyourdevicetoeither“Sub”or“Stereo”mode.

1. Sub – ThismodeshouldbeusedwhenasubwooferisattachedtotheAPA1200DSPinbridgedmode.ThismodeallowstheAutoEQfunctiontobeused.

2. Stereo -Thismodeshouldbeusedforstereoconfigurations,oranytimeaspeakerisnotconnectedtotheAPA1200DSPinbridgedmode.AutoEQmodeisdisabledinthismode.

D. System Information – Displaysusefulinformationsuchasthesystemuptime,currentpreset,andIPad-dressoftheAPA1200DSP.

A. Input Source – SwitchtheinputsourcebetweenanalogandSPDIFinput.B. Channel Mode-Changewhichchannelthesettingsaretobeapplied.Linkmodewillapplythesameset-

tingstobothchannel,butyoucanalsosetindividualsettingsforeachchanneliftheAPA1200DSPisusedinstereomode.

C. Volume – Dragtheslidertoincreaseordecreasetheamplifier’soutputvolume.Thearrowbuttonscanalsobepressedforgranularvolumecontrol.Therangeis-99dBto0dB.

D. Phase – Dragtheslidertoincreaseordecreasetheamplifier’sphase.Thearrowbuttonscanalsobepressedforgranularcontrol(incrementordecrementby5°).Therangeoftheslideris0° to 180°.

LPF Menu (Low Pass Filter)

LPFstandsfor“LowPassFilter”.Thisisthetypeoffilterthatisusedtopreventasubwooferfromplayinghighfrequencies,butthisisnottheonlyuseoftheLPF.Forexample,ifIsetalowpassfilterat100Hz,frequencieslowerthan100Hzwill“pass”,butfrequenciesgreaterthan100Hzwillbeattenuatedbyaspecifiedslope.LPFsareessentialforsubwoofers,becauseitallowsthesubwoofertoonlyplaythelowfrequenciesofyouraudiosource.

HPFstandsfor“HighPassFilter”.Thistypeoffilterwillcutlowfrequenciesoutofanaudiosignal,allowingfrequencieshigherthantheselectedfrequencyto‘pass’.Thisfiltercanalsobeusedasa“SubsonicFilter”.Thistypeoffilterisahighpassfiltersettofilteroutverylowfrequencies,anditeasestheloadonaspeakersystembycuttingoutfrequenciesfromthesignalthatthesystemcannotplay/cannotplaywell.Thiscanhavenumerousadvantagesinpowerhandlingandevenclarityofaudio,dependingonthesystem.

Auto EQ FunctionTheAPA1200DSPoffersapowerfullowfrequencyautoEQprocessforsubwoofersconnectedinSUB(bridged)mode.Bytaking5measurementsthroughoutaroomoraroundalisteningposition,thesoftwarewillgainanunderstandingofthecombinedresponseofthesubwooferwithinyourroom.Withthisunderstanding,thedevicewillgenerate5bandsofEQtotrytogenerateasignificantlyflatterbassresponsethroughouttheroomorlisteningposition.

4. Takeyourmeasurementsatdifferentpositions.Ifyoutookyourmeasurementsclusteredtogether,trytakingthemoveralargerarea.Ifyouusedalargeareatobeginwith,trytakingmeasurementsclosertoadesiredlisteningpositioninstead.

5. MakesurethatyoudonothaveotherEQorfiltersettingsenabledthatnegativelyaffectthesoundofyoursubwoofer.AlthoughEQforsubwoofersisverypowerful,someissuescannotbecorrectedwithEQ.Youmightneedtophysicallymoveyoursubwoofer,upgradethesubwoofer,ormodifyyourroomphysicallytoachievetheresultsyouwant.

6. TrymodifyingthedelayfunctionintheGUIoftheAPA1200DSP.Thiscanhavegreatresultsinthecombinationofsoundofyourmainspeakersandyoursubwooferbyacousticallyaligningthem.
