ThisisthethirdyearthatRepresentativeKaneandBethCasavanthaveco-hostedthisannualeventtoraisefundsforalocalnon-profitduringtheSpiritofShrewsburyweek,believingthatShrewsburybusinessesandresidentspossessaremarkableandgenerousspiritofgivingtowardscommunityeffortsandhelpingthoseinneed.Previousfundraiserswerealsoco-hostedbyformerStateRepresentativeMattBeatonandformerFinanceCommitteeChairandlocalbusinessownerJohnMasiello.Thefirstevent,“LetYourSpiritSOAR”,raisedover$16,000forShrewsburyOilAssistanceRelief(SOAR)andfundedtheorganizationfortwoyears.Lastyear’sevent,“LetYourSpiritBuild,”raised$15,000fortheShrewsburyPublicLibraryCapitalCampaign.

WhenaskedaboutselectingBinkeezforthisyear’srecipient,RepresentativeKanestated,“Manyimpactfulnon-profitorganizationsdiligentlyworkbelowtheradarscreeninourcommunity,andwhileBinkeezforComfortiswell-knownamongfamilieswithchildrensufferingfromlife-threateningillnessesandourpoliceandfiremenwhohavehelpedsupportthiswonderfulorganization,wewantedtohighlighttheirmissionandraisefundstoallowthemtohelpcareformorefamiliesstrugglingwiththegravemedicalconditionoftheiryoungchild.Iamhappytopartnerwithsomanyotherstohostthiseventwhocaredeeplyforthisorganization.”
