what is NIBP?a noninvasive method for measuring the blood pressure of laboratory animals (dog, primates, etc.)

www.emka.fr

how does it work?

emka TECHNOLOGIES’ noninvasive blood pressure systems are based on the oscillometric technique: pressure is measured from a cuff around a limb or the tail that is inflated to block blood flow then deflated slowly

what is analyzed?

time

cuff pressure

how is analysis performed?

detects inflation cyclesapplies hi-pass filterselects valid blood pressure pulsesproduces bell shaped amplitude curvecomputes mean, systolic and diastolic pressure values

ecgAUTO

www.emka.fr

what are the challenges for a successful analysis?

when signal is noisy the algorithm picks pulses that correspond to blood pressure beats and ignores artefacts

for greater efficiency, the software applies a number of criteria and rejects unreliable or spurious results

present experience (around 1000 hours of data from 40 dogs) indicate that from 70 to 95% of inflation cycles produce reliable data

examples of good and poor quality signals

pulses from noisy zones are ignored
