on water from 1974• 5 yearly surveys• for each survey: a list of reporting units

individual data• aggregates on the level of SI published yearly in the

statistical yearbook

• In the period of transition Slovenia implemented new acts in line with the EU directives

• In 2002 the WFD is addopted in SI

• New rules in water management/huge organizational efforts

• The responsibility for the WFD implementaions lays on the Ministry for Environment and Spatial Planning and on its Environmental Agency

• In 2001 three agencies joined in the Environmental Agency of the Republic of Slovenia

• In 2003 the board of EARS is changed

• New systems to be build and implemented

• Employment restrictions

• Requirements of each single act are focused

• No optimization for the benefit of the country as a whole

Conclusions• More time is needed to fulfill all the obligations and once

the system is set up to optimise it

• Some pressure from the outside could give positive results
