Dear People of St. John's,
We have many reasons to be thankful this fall! We are thankful for the children and their parents who worship with us, and whose presence in our community makes us vibrant. We are thankful for our revered older members whose wisdom and faithfulness is a witness and inspiration to us. We are thankful for our Nursery School and Sunday School teachers and students who have begun a new year. Our choir is a gift to us, and we are excited about their upcoming concert, and we are thankful for each of them, but we are especially thankful for the ministry of Tom Murphy who is retiring from the choir after decades of service. We are thankful for our Altar Guild, Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, Acolytes, and Ushers who enhance our worship with such reverence and love. We are grateful for the many people who will work so tirelessly to bring our Art Show to life in a few weeks. And we are thankful for our colleagues on the Vestry, whose vision and leadership shape this parish.
It is a joy to share with you the news that all the proceeds from the coming Art Show will be dedicated to two important projects. The money will be divided equally between the Nursery School Scholarship Fund, and our plans to start putting money aside for the care of our beloved Chapel. We are thankful for this wonderful opportunity for our community, and grateful for the privilege of sharing resources with two projects that are so dear to us.
In the coming weeks we turn our thoughts to Stewardship, which is, for us, primarily a conversation that is born out of thanksgiving. Our giving comes from a humble place of mindfulness of everything that God has done for us, and an overwhelming desire to respond with gratitude. We give thanks to God for each of you, and rejoice that God has called us all together as Christ's Body in the world.
Faithfully yours,
The Rev. Susan Ironside Bob Courtemanche Heather Leef Rector Senior Warden Junior Warden

The Holy Eucharist with Prayers for Healing will take place on on Thursday, October 30th at noon in the chapel. This simple service of prayer, Holy Communion, and the laying on of hands for those who desire it, is an extension of the ministry of the Pastoral Care Committee. All are welcome.
If you would like to have someone added to the Prayer List, please call 908-‐766-‐2282 or email the Parish Office office@sjotm.org.

This year we are privileged to have one of our own parishioners, Craig Johnston, as the Featured Artist during the show. Craig has generously offered to donate, to St. John’s, a commissioned piece of art to be auctioned to the highest bidder. There will be a silent auction held for the duration of the show for anyone to bid on and win a painting of your choice by Craig. This is an exciting first for the Mountain Art Show and we are so grateful to Craig for his incredible contribution.

34th ANNUAL MOUNTAIN ART SHOWOctober 25th - November 2nd
The Art Show Committee is in need of help in order to continue our tradition of celebrating the Arts at St. John’s. There is something for everyone!
The fun begins with Receiving Day on Sunday, October 19th from 12 noon to 4:00 pm. This is the day when all of the artwork, that will be displayed in the show, is brought to church by the artists. Come join fellow volunteers to help receive and organize artwork, set-‐up flats, move art show boxes and portfolio stands from the shed and other tasks required to set-‐up the show. Any amount of time you can spare will be helpful – ½ hour, an hour, two hours! Food and drink will be provided and it’s a great way to get to know other parishioners. Please contact Jody Flegal at jflega1997@aol.com or 908-‐766-‐7890 or just show up!
There are many ways to help. Choose a time and day that works for you!
The proceeds from the Art Show will go towards St. John’s Nursery School Scholarship program and a fund for the long term restoration and
preservation of the Chapel.
