Ape FactThe “Ape,” (pronounced ‘Ah-pay’) literally translates into “Bee”. Both Vespa (wasp) and Ape have two-stroke engines that create a characteristic buzz that recalls those of a wasp and a bee, hence their names.

Ape FactCorradino d’Ascanio was not only the designer of the Vespa (on which the Apes are based) but he also designed the modern helicopter in 1930. “Dreams must never be allowed to die,” he wrote to his children before his death in 1981.
