meaningful to employers?

The Lab’s Process

Badges should be:Rigorous, Transparent, Assessable, Portable, Simple, Machine Readable

Employers and researchers helped us identify how to

21st Century Skills Badges

Presenter
Presentation Notes
Badge Pyramid (soft skill development). Don talks more about entry-level+.

Components of a Badge

Academic and/or co-curricular experiences should allow students to intentionally practice the skill. Reflection deepens their understanding of themselves personally and professionally.

Deep knowledge of the skill is critical to

acquisition and a student’s ability to

activate the skill.

Assessments need to serve as a developmental guide for students and demonstrate their disposition and strengths to employers

Managing Conflict Resilience Module: Facing Fear

Reflection Question

Engaging in Mindful Practices

2-3 times per week imagine re-living an experience that has now left you with fear –

see yourself meeting the situation with courage and

having the results come out more positive.

Discussion and Reflection 25-item Resilience

Inventory (Wagnild & Young, 1987)

HybridLearnings & Reactions

Learning:Accountability from the group to keep

students engaged.

Other departments/groups could benefit from the badge process as a

team exercise.

Needed a tech platform that can support different groups in order

follow the required chunks of learning.

Reactions from student participants:

Growth; As a resilient person there is no end point to the learning.

We got to know each other differently and that there was value in earning the badge

and learning more about this skill.

The badge shows a concentration of learning and self improvement.
