Incredible week
It was my great privilege to be the Principal of
Parkes East on two particular occasions last week.
Most obviously the fete, where so many people from our school community work so tirelessly to make it such a success. A thank you, on behalf of the students, to each and every person who contributed
in some way.
The second event that made me so proud was our girls hockey team who played Molong CS last Friday. The repeated effort of the girls (from both teams) to keep pushing themselves ensured the game required a third period of extra time before a result was achieved with Molong scoring. To see how our students never gave up was truly inspirational and proved that just because you don’t finish first in a sporting contest doesn’t mean you’re not a winner. Each and every girl in this team was a winner in my
eyes.
May your week be full of joy. Michael

CAREFLIGHT FUNDRAISER On Thursday, 13 June our SRC is asking students to help them raise funds for Careflight. Each year Careflight transports thousands of critically ill or injured patients to hospital. They have a team of specialist doctors, nurses and paramedics who use air ambulances to reach those who are in need of emergency health care. The SRC is asking students to come to school on Thursday, 13 June wearing Careflight's colours, blue and yellow and donate a gold coin to this worthy charity.
PRIMARY SOCIAL The SRC will be hosting the Term 3 Primary Social on Thursday, 27 June. The theme of the social is Pyjama Party! Students are encouraged to wear their pyjamas and have a great evening with their friends. The social will commence at 6pm and conclude at 7.30pm. Cost will be $3.00 and this will cover a cold drink during the night. Hope to see you all there!
OPTUS ROAD SHOW Thanks to Optus for their Optus On The Road Show. Students from 4/5S, 5/6H and 5/6R got a taste of the future last week as they participated in the ‘On the Road with Optus’ road show featuring virtual and augmented reality workshops in partnership with Think Digital. The excitement generated amongst the students was a testament to the quality of the workshops and presentations.
