Bright Sparks Well this term certainly went off with a bang! We had a well deserved celebration after all the hard work that students and teachers put into achieving the results in the reports. Well done everyone. In our final week we took the students to the Opera House for a production of Wilde Creatures. This was an exciting performance with lots of great acting and music. The train trip there and back is also really exciting for the children. Although it was a long day it was very stimulating and Year 2 wrote some great reviews. This month we have been learning about the winter solstice and taking note of the long nights. To mark this turning point in the year the P&C held a winter solstice party with a disco and hula hoop show. The children had heaps of fun and I heard many saying ‘it was the best night ever’. I was a very popular principal the next morning but I have to share the glory with the teachers who stayed back late and the parents who helped to make it fantastic. Thank you to everyone involved. There were a lot of budding hula hoopers on the playground the next day :-) Meanwhile Rainbows have been busy getting sorted with colours and patterns. Pictures on p14. They certainly look ready for ‘big school’ next year. On the last Friday this term they joined the infants for dancing and loved every minute. We look forward to having fun with them during Transition in Term 4. Underpinning our action packed final week of Term 2 was the marking of NAIDOC week. The children participated in a ‘round robin’ of activities and celebrated our indigenous heritage with face painting and music. See the artwork they produced on p6&7. This term we also celebrated a wedding. Miss Wood became Mrs King during a lovely ceremony in the Gold Coast hinterland. Lots of the AWIS staff attended and all our dancing practice came in handy. Congratulations to both Ben and Lee on a very beautiful union and we wish you all the best for your future together. I hope everyone has a relaxing holiday and I would usually say at this time of the year “stay warm” but as I write it feels like summer. I’m sure it won’t last though. See you next term. Stay safe.

To mark this turning point in the year

the P&C held a winter solstice party with a disco and hula hoop show. The children had heaps of fun and I heard many saying ‘it was the best night ever’. I was a very popular principal the next morning but I have to share the glory with the teachers who

stayed back late and the parents who helped to make it fantastic.

The children participated in a ‘round robin’ of activities and celebrated our indigenous heritage with

face painting and music. See the artwork they produced on p6&7. This term we also celebrated a wedding. Miss Wood became Mrs King during a lovely ceremony in the Gold Coast hinterland. Lots of the AWIS staff attended and all our dancing practice came in handy. Congratulations to both Ben and Lee on a very beautiful union and

we wish you all the best for your future together. I hope everyone has a relaxing holiday and I would usually say at this time of the year “stay warm” but as I write it feels like summer. I’m sure it won’t last though. See you next term. Stay safe.
