What is a Goal Pyramid?

The goal pyramid is a graphic organizer that breaks down an overall goal into lower-level targets and the activities required to achieve it.

What Is Composition?

composition is the placement or arrangement of visual elements or ingredients in a work of art, as distinct from the subject of a work. It can also be thought of as the organization of the elements of art according to the principles of art.

What are the foundational principals of composition? The Foundational Principals of composition or “Design Elements” are the basic units of a painting, drawing, design or other visual works of art LINE, SHAPE, FORM, VALUE, COLOR, CONTRAST, POSITIVE SPACE, NEGATIVE SPACE, BALANCE, TENSION, CHROMA, SATURATION

LineLines and curves are marks that span a distance between two points (or the path of a moving point). As an art element, line pertains to the use of various marks, outlines and implied lines in artwork and design. A line has a width, direction, and length

ShapeShape is the form of an object or its external boundary, outline, or external surface, as opposed to other properties such as color, texture, or material composition

FormForm is the geometric information which remains when location, scale, orientation and reflection are removed from the description of a geometric object

ContrastContrast is a principle of art. When defining it, art experts refer to the arrangement of opposite elements (light vs. dark colors, rough vs. smooth textures, large vs. small shapes, etc.) in a piece so as to create visual interest, excitement and drama.

Positive Space Positive Space is the area or part of a painting's composition that the subject occupies

Negative Space Negative Space Is the area or part of a painting's composition that the subject does not occupy.

BalanceBalance is arranging elements so that no one part of a work overpowers, or seems heavier than any other part. The three different kinds of balance are symmetrical, asymmetrical, and radial. Symmetrical (or formal) balance is the most stable, in a visual sense.

Tension A balance maintained in an artistic work between opposing forces or elements; a controlled dramatic or dynamic quality

ColorThe property possessed by an object of producing different sensations on the eye as a result of the way the object reflects or emits light.

HueThe attribute of a color by virtue of which it is discernible as red, green, etc., and which is dependent on its dominant wavelength, and independent of intensity or lightness.

Chroma

Chroma is defined purity or intensity of color

Saturationdefines the brilliance and intensity of a color

Simultaneous contrast

Simultaneous contrast refers to the way in which two different elements (color, value texture) of the same visual category (color vs color, value vs value) affect each other, how one element can change how we perceive the other when placed side by side
