4041 is located at Ravenstein Galleryin the centre of Brussels. It wasinitiated by the 4041 collective to givea boost to the public activities in thismarvellous space which is on the onehand a connection between the urbaninfrastructure of the Central Station

and the cultural institution of the Bozarand on the other hand a destination initself for shopping, eating and culturalactivities. Built in the time of the Expo‘58, the space embodies the optimismof it’s time. 4041 want’s to take partin expressing again a contemporaryoptimism regarding the future.

What was before a failed restaurantbecame a multi purpose event location.Due to the temporary existence ofthe space, the transformation wasrealized solely with recycled materials,most of them recovered from the

former furniture. Very speci c byits irregular shape, the space offersmultiple con gurations for use. Thelarge windows provide visibility fromthe public space, mobile furniture andacoustical curtains allow an adaptationof the space according to differentneeds. The external covered space ofthe rotunda can be used upon request.
