Application
Long experience with the 520 meter and the constant efforts devoted to improvingit have made it possible to achieve an exceptional degree of quality and reliability.
The integration of innovative materials has in particular increased the accuracy andmeasuring range of this meter.
The 520 meter thus greatly exceeds the regulatory metrological performance of aClass C meter. Its efficiency as an invoicing tool makes it ideal equipment foroperators.
Its new pre-fitted counter for the HRI electronic sensor makes the 520 compatiblewith all modern remote reading applications.

Reliability
The 520 meter is a rotary-piston volumetric meter. Thehigh precision machining of the parts making up themechanism ensures the accuracy of the meter withoutany individual adjustment being necessary.
The movement of the self-lubricating measuringmechanism is transmitted to the counter by a pair ofpermanent magnets through a solid non-magneticstainless steel plate. The latter ensures a perfect sealbetween the body and head of the meter. The magnetic transmission is protected againstexternal magnetic influences.
A filter placed at the bottom of the casing providesexcellent filtration of the water. In Qn 2.5, this is astrainer situated in the inlet pipe, protecting themechanism from solid matter.
The 520 meter can be installed horizontally, verticallyor inclined.
Anti-fraud cover
The meter has a plastic head snapped onto the body ofthe meter. This bears the original verification marks. This part has to be broken in order to dismantle themeter.
Legibility
The 9-roller display guarantees simple andunambiguous reading of the meter index duringreadings and checks.
The dial, which can be oriented in service through350º, with its large white figures on a black backgroundfor m3 and on a red background for submultiples, facilitate reading of the index.
An unbreakable hermetically sealed casing enclosesthe counter. A screen wiper guarantees optimumlegibility of the index under all conditions. A coloureddevice makes it possible to check that the measuringmechanism has not been damaged by high mechanicalpressure. This device also makesit possible to detect exposure to frost.

Conformity
The 520 conforms to Recommendation No 49 of theInternational Organisation of Legal Metrology, ISO4064 and EC Directive 75/33.
Pattern approval No
The various diameters of the 520 are approved inClass C in accordance with EEC pattern approval forall positions:
- Qn 1.5 (DN 15 mm) No B98.32.50
- Qn 2.5 (DN 20 mm) No B98.32.49
Marking
The body bears two arrows indicating the direction offlow.
The year of manufacture, the individual manufacturingnumber, the manufacturer’s mark, the model name, thenominal flow rate, the metrological class and the EECpattern approval reference are printed on the dial. Theindividual manufacturing number may also be engravedon the head.
Installation and Maintenance Instructions
The 520 meter must be installed at a low point in thepipe, complying with the orientation of the arrowsindicating the direction of water flow.
The pipe must be rinsed before installing the meter inorder to discharge all foreign bodies.
It is recommended that a valve be installed in front ofthe meter to enable it to be installed and removed. When the meter is commissioned, open the valve infront of the meter slowly so as to ensure gradual filling.
This meter does not require any special maintenance.

Equipping with HRI sensor
The dial of the 520 is equipped as standard with apointer able to activate the HRI sensor.
The HRI provides a reliable data source for remotereading of a conventional meter. It is THE interface forall today's requirements for data interrogation andremote transmission.
The HRi is available in two versions :
1. HRI Pulse Unit
The use of the decilitre pointer for activating the HRIallows a basic resolution of one litre per pulse. Thefinal value of the pulse can be set using the divisor D(e.g. D = 100 means 1 pulse per 100 litres).
The possible D values are (in particular): 1 / 10 / 100 / 1000
2. HRI Data Unit
The design of the HRI Data Unit integrates a datainterface to read the index of the meter as well as theserial or customer number. The D value of the Divisor, the serial/subscriber number and the starting index areprogrammable. This version also allows a pulse signalto be emitted simultaneously (4 wire connection).
The HRI Data Unit can be connected to an M-Busnetwork or read through an inductive device (MiniBus)in accordance with the IEC 870 protocol.
Fitting of the HRI sensor
If the meter is equipped with a plastic register, thefitting is done through the installation of two screwsprotected with sealings provided with the sensor.
If the meter is equipped with a copper/glass register, afitting ring, on which the HRI sensor is screwed, allowsan easy and quick installation.
For additional information about the HRI, please referto the LS8100INT datasheet.
