A-F Report Card Update

HB 1658 made changes to the A-F Report Card

Signed by the Governor on 5/24/13

Law goes into effect 90 days after Governor signs

A-F Report Card Rule Changes

Rules will be defined by the State Department of Education and approved by the State Board of Education

SDE will have rule changes prepared to implement immediately after law goes into effect

Will affect the Report Cards that are released in September 2013

A-F Report Card ChangesLast year the report card was divided into 3 parts: achievement, growth, whole school performanceWhole School Performance is no longer part of the overall grade calculationSchools have the opportunity to gain up to 10 bonus points applied towards their final grade“Proficient” and “Advanced” are no longer weighted differently. In calculating performance and growth index, each of these performance levels are awarded 1 point

A-F Report Card Changes

GPA is no longer calculated for the district or site. A final index is translated into the gradeEach bonus point component is all or nothing, e.g. if graduation rate is worth 5 points, a school will either receive all 5 points or zero pointsAny bonus points will be added to the final report card index. The maximum possible score will be 110
