About Mrs. Scarpignato

• My last name is pronounced Scar-pa-not-o.

• I attended Widener University in Chester, Pennsylvania. While there, I studied Early Childhood, Elementary and Special Education.

• I grew up, and still live in, Delaware County, Pennsylvania. (For those of you unfamiliar with that county, it's right outside of Philadelphia.)

In the July 2012, I married my husband, Ed!

We have been together since February 2006.

I have two other jobs besides teaching.

A few hours a week, I work with an individual

with Down Syndrome. Her name is Erin and

she just graduated high school! She and I

work on life skills, such as cooking, cleaning,

and being safe in the community.

She recently started a job as a “ticket taker”

at a local movie theater. She is very excited,

as this is her dream job. I try to visit her at

work as much as I can!

In September, she and I will begin an

American Sign Language course at night.

Over the summer, I started my own photography business! It is called

Just as You Pictured. My favorite things to photograph are nature,

animals and toddlers!

I love to eat out, especially at

sushi bars and steakhouses.

Also, I LOVE pizza and

doughnuts!!!

In my free time, I like to spend time with my eight cats - yes, eight cats!!!! My husband

and I can't stand to see skinny, little strays outside, so we take them in.

Here are some pictures of my babies:

Upper Left: Trooper Upper Right: Malcolm Bottom Left: Mya Bottom Right: Player

From left to right: Shabby, Momma, Abby

(Momma is the mother of both Shabby and Abby)

There is also Sunny, who came

to us about a year ago. She

has trouble getting along with

everyone else.

We also take care of a 9th cat who

lives in our yard. We named him

Mr. Owens. We try to trap him to

give him a nice warm home, but he

is too smart for the trap!

As you have probably already guessed, I LOVE animals! It doesn’t

matter what type. I think all animals should be treated with kindness.

People should remember that animals can feel pain, too!

I am very involved with the Special Olympics of Delaware County. I coach softball with

my husband and organize fundraisers. In 2012, we were chosen by Dunkin’ Donuts and

the Eagles as Hometown MVPs for all of our hard work!

I’m looking forward to a GREAT

school year!!!
