CASLAssessmentReport

Programs submit an Assessment Progress Report to CASL in year three of the regular program‐review cycle.

The Report is due no later than May 1 of that academic year.

In year four of the academic program‐review cycle, CASL reviews the report and provides formative written feedback and assistance to the program. 

Programs are encouraged to include the CASL report, or a summary, as part of the academic program review documentation.– Programs could describe how CASL recommendations were implemented.

ApprovalRoutingProcess

By the first Monday in March 2019:  Program must email the program review in WORD to Kimberly Craig in the Provost’s Office (craig.kimberly@uis.edu).   The email text must confirm that the attached review has been approved by the program and contain that approval date.   The Provost’s Office will route the report to the College Curriculum Committee and Dean for review.

By the first Monday in November 2019:  The College Curriculum Committee emails their memo to Kimberly Craig in the Provost’s Office (craig.kimberly@uis.edu).  

By the end of finals week of the Fall 2019 semester:  The Dean emails his or her memo to Kimberly Craig in the Provost’s Office to route to the appropriate Council.

By the first Monday in March 2020:  Undergraduate or Graduate Council emails their memo to Kimberly Craig in the Provost’s Office. 

Last Step:  The Provost’s Office submits the program review to Campus Senate.

Write Self Study Identify self‐study committee, lead writer, and coordinator. The 

coordinator should be identified immediately following this workshop. (Email list of contacts to Kimberly Craigcraig.kimberly@uis.edu )

Gather and analyze data. Consult with Office of Institutional Research, Provost’s Office staff, and Dean’s Office as needed. 

Draft report sections. Lead writer edits and compiles sections into the self‐study. 

Program or unit approves report. Copies of report are submitted to Kimberly Craig in the 

Provost’s Office for distribution to the College Curriculum Committee.

YearTwo(2019‐2020)Begin Governance Review Process

Copies of report are submitted to Kimberly Craig for distribution to the CCC.The CCC asks questions, provides feedback to Program. 

CCC prepares a recommendation memo addressed to the Dean and  forwards it with the report to Kimberly Craig.

Kimberly Craig routes the report and the CCC recommendation memo to the Dean or Supervisor. 

Dean or Supervisor prepares a memo outlining recommendations and forwards all materials to Kimberly Craig to route to the Provost’s Office 

The Provost’s Office distributes copies of the report and memos to the Council.

Council reviews materials and invites program or unit representatives and Dean to a meeting to discuss. 

Council prepares written comments/recommendations andforwards the memo to Kimberly Craig to route to Campus Senate & Provost, with copy to the Program.

Senate receives the program self‐study and Council memo and hears the report from the Council.

External Review

Provost’s Office develops an internal Memorandum of Understanding based on recommendations from Program, Dean, and Council, and makes an official report to the Illinois Board of Higher Education (IBHE).

Brief general description of program, including learning outcomes and any developments in curriculum. 

Discussion of positive developments and challenges in implementation (student demand, changes in faculty, etc.).

Plans for or developments in assessment of student learning. Analysis of performance measures including, if available: student 

enrollment in the program, enrollment in the courses associated with the program, pattern of course availability, number of credit hours generated by the program, and number of students completed.
