TYRE IS A RUBBER MEMBER WHICH GIVES THE COUSION TO THE AUTOMOBILE. IT CONSIST THE OUTER COVER I.E.TYRE PROPER AND TUBE INSIDE.THE TWEEL TYRES;-THE TYRE USES NO AIR, AND THEREFORE CANNOT BURST OR BECOMEFLAT. INSTEAD, THE TWEEL'S HUB CONNECTS TO FLEXIBLE POLYURETHANE SPOKES WHICH ARE USED TO SUPPORT AN OUTERRIM AND ASSUME THE SHOCK-ABSORBING ROLE OF A TRADITIONAL TIRE’ PNEUMATIC PROPERTIES.

INTRODUCTION

FUNCTION OF TYRES

o To support the vehicle load.o To provide the cousion against the shock.o To transmit driving and braking force to

the road.o To provide cornering power for smooth

steering.

PROPERTIES OF TYRESo NON ~SKIDDING.

o UNIFORM WEAR

o LOAD CARRING

o POWER CONSUMPTION

o BALANCING

IMPORTANCE OF TWEEL TYRES

DESING CONSIDERATION AND MATERIALS USED

The Tweel consists of a cable-reinforced band of conventional "tyre" rubber with molded tread, a shear band just below the tread that creates a compliant contact patch, and a series of energy absorbing polyurethane spokes. Both the shear beam and the polyurethane spokes can be designed to provide a calibrated directional stiffness in order that design engineers are able to control both how the Tweel handles and how it handles loads.

• Run-out capacity

• Mileage

• Durability

WORKING

APPICATION• They are used

in military vehical.

• They are used in the construction equipments such as bachhoes.

APPLICATIONS They are used on

some small vehicles such as golf cart and the lawn movers.

They are used as Tyres of the space vehicals

ADVANTAGES OF TWEEL TYRES

Increased fuel efficiency.

The material used in the spokes are 100% recyclable.

Provides low rolling resistance and contributing to

reduction in co2 reduction.

The worry of punctures is eliminated.

Stability Improvement.

DISADVANTAGES

o Lack of adjustability.

o Not as economic as pneumatic tyres.

o Vibrations .

CONCLUSION It is concluded that tyres featuring low noise

and low rolling resistance will be required in the near future and that the interest in and need for improved

characteristics in this respect will receive much more attention and priority in the tyres of the next 10

years than for present market tyres.
