PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE FOR THE MONTH OF MAY 2019

Hello Members – I hope this newsletter finds everyone well and healthy.

Well we certainly had April showers, now didn’t we? Hopefully Spring is on its way

along with more sunshine and warmer weather. I am sure you are as anxious as I

am to get out and enjoy each other’s company with our vehicles.

The BOWLING GREEN PLANT in KY adds a second shift for the mid-engine

corvette production. The next generation C8 Corvette is in production with the new

mid-engine corvette to make its debut in July 2019. I have read a lot of good and bad about this new vehicle.

In talking with our VP, Dennis Langlois, it seems there are a lot of little and major flaws with this production

before it makes its debut. It will be very interesting to see, hear and possibly test drive this new creation from

Bowling Green, KY. On another note - GREAT NEWS!!!! Our sponsor PAUL MASSE has decided again this

year to hold off on a Vettetacular in June, and join forces with us the Corvette Club of Rhode Island and

support our show. This is wonderful news for the Club, because due to the generosity of our Sponsor we will

be able to give back more to our charities, Operation Stand Down and the Rhode Island Community Food

Bank. We should all be very excited about this great news. Our sponsor has indicated that once they receive

the mid-engine corvette, that they “may” be having a special event to debut the mid-engine Corvette here in

Rhode Island at his showroom.

We have our first big social on April 28th at The Coachmen Lodge hosted by our Madam Secretary,

Debbie Papineau and her husband Roger. This promises to be a great afternoon. We are visiting the

Veterans Museum first and then off to lunch. May 4th brings our Breakfast Social around the corner with

also a great turnout – this event is closed right now, but if anyone is still interested, please contact me and

I’ll see what I can do as we did have some Members back out due to other obligations. If you cannot make

this social, please do email me at ccofri@gmail.com . I am looking forward to spending an enjoyable

summer with my Corvette family, I hope you are looking forward to the same. Our next meeting is May 7th

at 5:30 p.m. – it is our BOARD OF DIRECTOR’S PIZZA AND CRUISE NIGHT AT THE CHURCH PARKING LOT –

Pizza, Ice Cream, beautiful Corvettes and great people, sounds like a FANTASTIC MEETING TO ME – hope to

see you all there. Memorial Day Parade details will be coming up at our meeting. Thank you for letting us

know what seats are available for a Veteran at the Lincoln Parade. Peter DiBonaventura will be giving us

more details on that event. I believe a guest from our Sponsor Paul Masse will be attending as well.

Prayers for those Members who are going through life’s speedbumps, you are all in our prayers. Life

can be so challenging at times, that is why it is so important to love the ones you’re with, and enjoy every

single day that is granted to us. That’s it for now – thank you for being a supportive Member of our Club,

I can promise you the Board of Directors, the volunteers that support and work so very hard for our Club truly

do appreciate you. If I can be of any assistance at any time, please do not hesitate to contact me at (401) 369-

2881 or email me at ccofri@gmail.com . Speaking of Emails – I apologize for the mass mailing to your

inboxes of a spam that apparently is happening. It appears, that someone out in PA has hacked our list and

therefore, each time I send a mass email it is followed by a spam email, with my name on it. Denny has

diligently reported this to the powers that be, and we are working on eliminating the issue. But please let

me apologize for any inconvenience, and most of all PLEASE DO NOT OPEN THE SPAM EMAILS OR REPLY TO

ANY OF IT!
