General Program Timeline:Semester 1: The area of study and majorprofessor are chosenSemester 2: The Program of Study and AMDTGraduate Committee are chosen and thesis orproject work beginsSemester 3: Thesis or project work continuesSemester 4: Thesis or project is finalized, youdefend your work to your committee and amanuscript is prepared for possible publication

WSU graduate requirements include aminimum of 30 credits of which 21 credits forthesis or 26 credits for project are gradedcourses. The program may also include up to10 credits of supporting coursework and nomore than 6 credits of 300-400 level coursesfor thesis work, 9 credits for project work or atotal of 10 credits for transfer work.

Timing varies per student but averages twoyears. Students taking background courses maytake longer. Typically students complete 10-18credit hours per semester (the average is 12,which is also a required minimum forinternational students).

The courses listed below are areas of study thatgraduate students must show competency(through an undergraduate degree or industryexperience) in order to earn their degree.

Degree Requirements

For students doing a thesis, a minimum of 24graded credit hours are required. For studentsdoing a project, a minimum of 30 gradedcredits are required.
