The Banlaw Dry-Break Automatic Refuelling System has demonstrated considerable fuel savingsover traditional splash fill methods. The State Rail Authority of NSW, Australia recorded an averagefuel saving of 38%38%38%38%38% on all locomotives and a substantial saving of 42%42%42%42%42% on the Inter-City Express( XPT) locomotives.KTM Rail (Malaysia) recorded similar savings by converting to the Banlaw System. Both partiesconfirmed the fuel saving is due to the fact that there is NO spillage caused whilst locomotives aretravelling or during the refuelling operation.In addition to these savings are the obvious benefits to the environment and the greatly reducedrisk of fire. Significant improvements are also gained by the increased refuelling rates offered by theBanlaw System, thereby reducing costly locomotive downtime.With the range of compatible fuel monitoring, level sensing and lubrication service systems available,only Banlaw can provide a complete fuel management system for your diesel locomotive fleet.

• Dry-Break technology eliminates spillage during connection & disconnection ofnozzle, while the Banlaw vent eliminates spillage from the fuel tank whilst thelocomotive is travelling.
• Simple operation, low maintenance• Quick connect and release fittings• Less refuelling down time - Fast Fill 170-1000 Litres/min. (45-264 U.S. gals/in.)• Fuel security - Accountability of fuel usage and reduced pilferage.
Cost Savings
• Easy to use• Bottom filling - No diesel foaming, reduced risk of static electricity & therefore
reduced risk of fire• Reliable automatic shut off mechanism• Ability to refuel from ground level• Safe refuelling position for operators• Protects the environment both during refuelling and in transit• Similar technology used on 90% of all open pit mining equipment worldwide• Fuel can only be transferred when nozzle & receiver are fully connected

Banlaw’s electronic fuel monitoring system,automatically keeps track of fuel and oil inputand output, without any manual intervention.Data is then presented in a readily useable formon computer, either on site or at a remotelocation.

There has sometimes been a concern about tankpressurisation as the primary detection sourceto determine automatic fuel flow shutdown,especially as flow rates are increased to reducedowntime due to larger fuel tank capacities.FillSafeFillSafeFillSafeFillSafeFillSafeTM is a electronic level sensing system thatprovides accurate shut-off without tankpressurisation or spillage, utilising a range ofdifferent level sensors including stainless steellevel probes and infra red optic sensors.FillSafeFillSafeFillSafeFillSafeFillSafeTM allows flow rates up to 1000 l/min tobe carried out and automatic shut down withno increase in tank pressure. The shutdown levelis extremely accurate and is not affected bydifferent flow rates, head/line pressures or pumptype.

• All fittings incorporate Dry-Break Technologyto eliminate spillage.
• All fittings use a ball locking mechanism toensure a secure, clean and reliableconnection.
• LubeCentrLubeCentrLubeCentrLubeCentrLubeCentralalalalalTM eliminates the need foroperators to carry fluid containers andcumbersome equipment onto and aroundlocomotives and vehicles.
• No spillage & complete recovery meansbetter Environmental Protection Authority
compliance.• The efficient evacuation systems allows for;
complete used oil/coolant recovery for totalrecycling of waste.
• Each fitting is unique, therefore each type offluid/oil cannot be accidently mixed

Railway networks throughout the world are legallyrequired to reduce environmental damage causedby their operations. Breaches of a variety of anti-pollution and environmental laws now result invery heavy penalties for offending organisationsand individuals.Seventy-five percent of environmental damagecaused by the railways is fuel related.Increasingly, railways networks worldwide areturning to the proven class leader in liquidtransfer systems, BANLAW.
Banlaw Systems can be used for the filling andevacuation of all types of fluids used bylocomotives from distillate to lube oils andcoolants. The innovative design of the BanlawDry-Break System carries international patents.Together with the specially designed vent, thetank and receiver form a sealed unit whichprevents fuel spillage.
