Biography

Dimitri Illarionov - Russian Guitarist of the Young Generation. 

He is one of the most brilliant classical guitarists of his country. In 1997 Dimitri Illarionov graduated with honorsfrom the Academic Music College at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory (class of guitar – Natalia Dmitrieva).

 Then he studied at the Russian Gnesins s Academy of Music with the famous performer and professor Alexander

Frauchi. In 2002, Dimitri graduated from the Academy "cum laude," and since October 2002 he is an assistant ofprofessor Frauchi.

Dimitri Illarionov won the Grand Prix in the VI International Promotional Competition "Guitar Talents' Review"(Gdansk, Poland - 1999) and the title of "The Greatest Hope" in the "X Gdansk Meeting of Guitarists." In 2000 hewon the First Prize in the most prestigious Russian International Guitar Competition - "Guitar in Russia"(Voronezh, Russia).

Dimitri is the laureate of numerous international competitions. They include: the Second Prize in the IIIInternational Competition of Musical Personalities "Alexander Tansman" (Lodz, Poland - 2000), the laureate of theVII International Classic Guitar Competition "Printemps de la guitare 2000" (Charleroi-Seneffe, Belgium), thelaureate of the XI International Biannual Guitar Competition in Kutna Hora (Czech Republic - 2002), the laureate ofthe International Competition "Classic Heritage"(Moscow - 1997), the winner of "Guitar Moscow" competition

(1997).

In October 2002 Dimitri Illarionov won the most prestigious guitar competition in the world – The TwentiethInternational Guitar Foundation of America Solo Guitar Competition (GFA – Miami, Florida, USA). As part of theprize, he has already recorded a solo CD (Naxos – Laureate Series). He will also conduct a concert tour (in USA,Canada and Mexico) and perform for a concert video recording (Mel Bay Publications).

 The guitarist's repertoire is broad and versatile. It includes the original guitar music of different periods and styles,the unique cycle "24 Preludes and Fugues for Solo Guitar" by Igor Rekhin, as well as compositions for guitar withorchestra, lute music, etc.

Dimitri recorded the “Classical Duo” CD (Delos Records) with Boris Andrianov, one of the most gifted youngRussian cellists. Dimitri Illarionov has an active concert life, performing as soloist with orchestras and playing solo

recitals. In addition to numerous appearances in Russia, he visited with concerts Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Estonia,Poland, Japan and Germany. Dimitri performed with a solo concert at one of the world major guitar events –Nürtingen Festival (Germany).
