The Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness and LSU’s Stephenson
Disaster Management Institute (SDMI) have partnered to provide Louisiana’s Emergency
Management and Homeland Security Professionals a comprehensive, leadership training and certification
program.

Have conducted and will continue to conduct training needs assessments for local and state-level emergency management personnel
We are delivering quality training that meets the needs of local and state-level emergency management personnel, including parish executives
We are coordinating training curriculum for state and local emergency management personnel
We have developed training requirements for parish OHSEP directors and will continue to refine these requirements
We are developing training tracks for multiple audiences

Parish OHSEP Needs Assessment and Gap AnalysisConducted in Spring 2010
Data was captured from three key sources:
An anonymous online survey of Parish OHSEP Directors and statewide responder associations with 81% OHSEP participation
Focus groups comprised of parish OHSEP directors and their staff with 83% OHSEP participation
Training databases of local, state and national training opportunities in Louisiana with over 143 programs reviewed.
