Where we were…
• Situation in the summer 2008
– 8 Content Management “Systems”– Serving ~10,000 pages or ~70 sites– Questionable security and processes– More than 10 designs to support– Decentralized templates and libraries– “Keep the lights on” mentality
Purpose
• Fisher’s web CMS services will strengthen the business and technical web support infrastructure, in order to ensure the integrity, deliverability, and marketability of content and resources.
Where we are now…
• What CMS are we using…– Home-grown CMS, evolved since 2002– 1 design to support– Centralized template and support libraries
• Framework– PHP/.NET dual support– Serves content and provides admin support– Content support structure
Why it’s working…
• User-experience is a priority• Flexible and customizable• In-house expertise• Enforceable policies and procedures• Ability to grant micro-permissions• Content owner ease-of-use
Where we are going…
• Limitations to overcome– Aging core framework– Upgrades can be complex– Tough to integrate new technology– Administration requires deep involvement
• System integration and authentication• Portal strategy• Online collaboration space
