Bromley-By-Bow
ONE, TWO AND THREE
BEDROOM APARTMENTS
Celebrating the past, present and future, Bow River
Village combines futuristic design with references to
the rich industrial heritage of the East End.
Set on the peaceful banks of the River Lea, this striking
new collection of buildings, punctuated by landscaped
modern courtyards and open spaces, takes inspiration
from the local factories and warehouses that once
teamed with activity.
With a tranquil location in one of London’s thriving
creative hubs, this new riverside quarter displays all the
hallmarks of a destination address.
“Water is peaceful. I am at rest.”Jennifer Niven
LIVING NEXT TO WATER IS, FOR
MANY, THE ULTIMATE DREAM.
There is a clear and calming quality to water, a sense
of the serene, that is incomparable to any other
landscape. As an urban waterway the River Lea takes
on an extra dimension, a reminder of the industrial
heritage and pride that put Bow at the forefront of
London’s trade. Today, it is a source of enchantment
for anyone who lives here.

FUTURE FORWARD THINKING
From Victorian and Georgian streets to former factories and
warehouses, if Bow is about anything, it’s about ingenuity
and endurance.
These are the qualities of Bow River Village reflected in the
use of brickwork that evokes the buildings of the industrial
period, while sleek glass balconies, zinc-cladding and
contemporary landscaping employ a rich palette of modern
materials that are both beautiful and practical.
An easily managed and low-maintenance future are
the visions behind the thinking, with architecture and
apartments that are an instant and natural fit with the
neighbourhood, creating a new urban setting of modern
and classic inspiration.

Built to last and designed for exceptional city living, Bow River Village lies at the centre of one of London’s creative heartlands.
AN AREA STEEPED IN HISTORY
filmmakers including Danny Boyle, Stephen Daldry, Joe
Cornish and David Cronenberg.
From 2010 - 2012 it played host to the London Olympic
Committee teams organising the opening, closing &
victory ceremonies for the London 2012 Olympic and
Paralympic Games. Planning, auditions and rehearsals as
well as costume, set, music and lighting design all took
place at the 3 Mills Studios.
A mere 5 minute walk from Bow River Village lies Three
Mill Island, home to the historical and creative hub that is
Three Mills Studios. It is also home to largest and most
powerful of the four remaining tidal mills in Britain, The
House Mill.
The Mills were listed in the Domesday Book and date
back as far as the 11th century. During the course of
history they have been used for grinding flour for the
bakers of Stratford, who were celebrated for the quality
of their bread. In the 17th century they began using the
grain to distil alcohol and became a major supplier of gin
in London.
AFTER THE WAR
The Mills were badly damaged by bombing in the Second
World War and the wheels stopped turning in 1941. The
majority of the island become a dedicated centre for
film and television production with the establishment of
Bow Studios, 3 Mills Island Studios and Edwin Shirley
Productions in the 1980s.
The studios have played host to some of the biggest film,
TV and stage productions including Legend, Mr Holmes,
Masterchef, The Inbetweeners, Jekyll & Hyde, Fantastic
Mr Fox and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. It has
also inspired some of the most successful independent

PLAN TO BE DRAWN
WALK, CYCLE, ROW: BOW IS
WAITING TO BE REDISCOVERED
The towpath along this section of the River Lea has
been closed for decades. The act of re-opening
the waterside to pedestrians and reconnecting the
location with nearby public walkways provides an
important integration of Bow River Village into the
neighbourhood, giving back to the local community
that which had been lost.
Enterprise and industry have forged the unique
character of Bow over hundreds of years, with the
River Lea and Limehouse Cut running straight into
London’s docks. Take a stroll around the network of
canals and waterways and you’ll discover reminders of
Bow’s estimable trading heritage, alongside plenty of
local nature and wildlife.
Bow today is a fun and culturally diverse place to live
with a combination of contrasts from traditional taverns
to gastro pubs; hip restaurants to East End cafes;
fashion boutiques to ethnic delis, not to mention
one of London’s longest-running street markets at
Roman Road.

QUEEN ELIZABETH OLYMPIC PARK LIES JUST A 1.5 MILE WALK FROM BOW RIVER VILLAGE CAN BE EASILY REACHED VIA THE TOWPATH
This thriving and vibrant part of London has transformed
so much over recent years that it’s almost impossible to
know where to begin.
The East End has become one of the most sought after
places to live for those in search of an authentic and
fulfilling urban lifestyle, one where creativity, culture,
and community are ranked equally alongside innovative
architecture and design and local heritage in a unique
and enriching mélange.
Some of London’s most splendid areas of public
open space are here, from the elegant period charms
of Victoria Park, to the stunning contemporary
landscapes of Queen Elizabeth Park, part of the
extraordinary legacy from the London 2012 Olympics.
But the East End is also brimming with museums,
sports facilities, cinemas and theatres, as well as
the capital’s most party-loving neighbourhoods in
Shoreditch, Hoxton and Dalston.

London really has something for everyone. Whatever your
pleasure, the capital does it in style.
Get creative on the city fringe, in the neighbourhoods of
Clerkenwell, Shoreditch, Hackney and Dalston, where the
city’s most free thinking of souls are forever conceiving
the latest trends. Concept stores, quirky cafes, urban
hangouts and interior design are regularly and imaginatively
invented and reimagined at dizzying pace.
Get cultured on the South Bank, at the Barbican, at Kings
Cross, or anywhere. From vintage picturehouse to IMAX
Laser, from brutalist auditorium to Victorian music

hall, and from classical masterpiece to modern gallery,
London is where it’s at when it comes to the arts.
Get clothed in the West End. Covent Garden, Soho,
Mayfair and Kensington draw the style conscious from
across the country and around the world. No other
city has such a rich collection of flagship locations
from the world’s top designers, or such a unique
collection of glamorous department stores. And if
the high street is more your thing, nearby Westfield
Stratford City is the largest indoor mall in Europe.

Bow River Village is remarkably well connected for the
City, West End, Canary Wharf and London City Airport.
Bromley-by-Bow Underground station (District and
Hammersmith & City Lines) is just a short walk, as are
the DLR stations at Bow Church and Devons Road.
The upcoming Crossrail station at Canary Wharf will
further enhance the local connectivity, with a new fast
route through the centre of London to
Heathrow Airport.

Strewn along the River Thames is a collection of London’s
waterside neighbourhoods, from maritime Greenwich to
Dickensian Wapping, to the modern streetscapes of Royal
Victoria Docks and the Isle of Dogs. They are the story of
London, and they are there for the taking.
