WONDERFUL WOLVESBy Corbin Molina

What are wolves?

Wolves are a type of animal that are like dogs but different.

They are actually the ancestors of dogs! Wolves are mammals. Mammals are warm blooded

animals that don’t lay eggs.

Where do wolves live?

Wolves live in Rocky Mountains, Artic tundra's, thick forest and valleys.

Northern wolves are well adapted to cold weather and change habits to avoid hot weather.

What animals do wolves hunt for?

What wolfs eat depends on their habitat. Northern wolves eat moose, caribou, musk oxen

and bison. Mountain wolves eat wild sheep. Forest wolves eat deer and elk.

What problems do wolves have to face in the wild?

Living in the wilderness wolves have to compete with other wolves to get food and territory.

Wolves also have to protect their young from other predators.

Humans are wolves’ most dangerous competition for food and territory.

How do wolves hunt?

Wolves wait for their prey to run so they don’t get hurt from the hooves of the prey.

Wolves try to make the prey run. If the prey doesn’t run, the wolves soon leave and look for an easier prey.

What folktales are wolves in?

Wolves have been in folk tales for a long time. Wolves are in a lot of folktales like “Little red riding

hood”. Wolves in folktales sometimes get tricked, are evil

or happy and helpful.
