Why haven't I heard of foam roof ing before?

In the deser t areas, Sprayed Polyurethane Foam (SPF), is commonly used on f lat

roofs due to the necessi ty of heat reflection, insulat ion properties and energy sav-

ings. When you look at the long term benefi ts such as the solution for ponding wa-

ter , renewabil i ty, energy savings and waterproofing then i t i s clear ly the best choice.

SPF is becoming increasingly popular in Southern Cal i fornia.

Why don’t al l those other roof ing companies use Sprayed Polyurethane Foam?

The expensive mater ial , high tech equipment and application experience to insure

correct installation is usual ly cost prohibi t ive to most roofing companies .

How does i t save energy?

During the hot months, on the majori ty of bui ldings, heat enters through the roof .

SPF creates a thermal blanket that insulates and shields the roof f rom infrared rays.

The roof never heats up as the heat is not radiated inside the bui lding. This resul ts

in lower ai r condit ioning costs . During cold months, i t keeps the heat inside the

bui lding.

Can I walk on i t?

Yes, and within a very short t ime. We use a closed -cel l mater ial that is extremely

tough and easi ly handles normal walking, wear and tear .

Is i t heavy?

No. It only weighs a few ounces per square foot .

How does i t save money?

The roof is vi r tual ly maintenance free. It has an iron - t ight warranty of up to 20

years . Should the roof leak due to mater ial or workmanship i t i s our responsibi l i ty to

repair i t a t no charge to the cl ient . The SPF system vir tual ly el iminates deep pond-

ing water and improves drainage to al low the water to move off the roof to the

drains where i t should go.

How long has SPF been used on roofs and how long does i t last?

It has been used for over 40 -years and most of these properly appl ied roofs are s t i l l

in service. General ly, they should be recoated every 10 to 15 years . Cap sheet roof -

ing systems usual ly last 8 -12 years .

Is there any tax benef it to SPF roof ing?

With the current incent ives offered by the Federal Government , your project may

qual i fy for an “energy saving” credi t or deduct ion. TYPICALLY, our Cool -Roof ap-

pl ications can be expenses in the year they appl ied as they are considered a mainte-

nance expense when appl ied over the exis t ing roofing mater ials .

Superior Insulation Efficiency.

Polyurethane foam is the most efficient form of thermal insulation commercially

available. The systems usually pay for themselves in 2 to 6 years in energy savings on conditioned facilities.

It’s Lightweight.

Many times lighter than conventional built-up tar and gravel systems. When

the loose ballast is removed, the new complete polyurethane foam system is

usually lighter than the original.

It’s UL Listed.

Polyurethane spray foams are listed under UL 790 and UL 723. UL 790 roofing systems are listed Class A over non-

combustible decks and Class A or B over combustible decks.

Environmentally Friendly.

Does not contain harmful chemicals. Can

usually be applied over existing roof systems thus eliminating landfill use.

Renewable.

Covered by an appropriate coating, it does

not age, decompose, or lose it’s physical properties over time. The roof should be re coated periodically, ever 10-15 years.

Sustainable. Never re-roof, simply re-coat.
