PROGRAM OVERVIEW
WE’RE ON A MISSION
1
To help students:
identify pathways to college • and careers
apply leadership skills to their • lives
take rigorous courses for • college eligibility
have positive attitudes and • behavior towards themselves and others
pass on their knowledge • and motivation to their peers
To empower middle school students to take charge of their success in high school, college, and life.
DESIGNED FOR SCHOOLWIDE IMPACT
Learning about the pathways to future possibilities should be fun and meaningful for students. Career & College Clubs is full of hands-on activities, providing an immersive and exploratory learning experience.
In order to strengthen knowledge and leadership skills, it’s essential for students to “pass on” what they’ve gained to their peers. Each Career & College Clubs meeting and event maximizes opportunities for peer-to-peer engagement.
When students show their peers how enthusiastic they are about their future, it can have a ripple effect and elevate the school’s success culture. Career & College Clubs provides the right blend of hands-on activities and peer engagement to achieve this impact.
We’ve designed a program to meet our ambitious goals. Career & College Clubs is built upon a simple equation, which we call our “Success E-quation”:

I learned a lot more than I used to know. I’m glad we got a chance to do all the fun activities, especially the cookies for college… -Amy“
THE ISSUE
3
Thousands of middle school students are falling through the cracks…
students lack motivation, purpose, and direction. As a result, they either don’t graduate on time or they drop-out in the 9th and 10th grades. This means middle school is a “make or break” moment in their lives.*
of 7th graders say they do not have a high level of caring relationships with adults in the community**
of middle school students and parents rate their schools fair or poor in providing information to students about the requirements for getting into college.*

PROGRAM STRUCTURE AND ROLES

Career & College Clubs maximizes the number of students impacted by the program by capitalizing on the power of peer-to-peer interaction. The program enables this engagement to happen through the alignment of just a few roles and user-friendly resources. A key focus is providing extensive support to the pivotal “Coach” role, who is a teacher, counselor, or other adult that guides the club at each school.

Empowering middle school students to take charge of their success in high school, college, and life.
Why We’re Here We believe that middle school is a key leverage point for students. It is a critical time when young people solidify the attitudes, thought patterns, and work habits that they will carry with them for the rest of their lives. Therefore, reaching students in the middle grades can help ensure their success in high school, college, and beyond. And that’s why we created Career & College Clubs.Career & College Clubs is a project of FutureWorks, a team within ALL Management Corporation that develops concepts, products, and programs that help individuals achieve higher levels of education and economic self-sufficiency.
