Day 1 TOKYO

Welcome to Japan! Transfer by coach to hotel. Meeting withguide. Late in the afternoon, we will pay a visit to thisfascinating country by taking a trip on the metro (ticketsincluded) to the Shinjuku district and see the crowds of peoplewho use this modern and efficient collective transport system.Shinjuku is one of the most important nightlife districts. The visitincludes an ascent to the METROPOLITAN TOWER, which hasa wonderful view of the city from the 46th floor. Dinner includedand return to hotel. NOTE: This visit may take place on theday of arrival or after the panoramic city tour next day ,depending on the passenger flight arrival times.

Day 2 TOKYO

In the morning, we take part in a 5-hour trip with our guide to seethis amazing city, with its hustle and bustle and extremelymodern districts that coexist with quiet, peaceful areas. We willpass near the walls and gardens of the Imperial Palace and visitthe Shinto shrine dedicated to the Emperor Meiji and his wife,and their spirits. In Yasukuni Jinja shrine we will have thechance to reflect on peace in this shrine, built in remembrance ofthe 2.5 million Japanese citizens who lost their lives in WorldWar II. Passengers who wish to do so can visit the WarMuseum. We will pass through the district of Akihabara, the“electric town” with icons from the popular Japanese Manga andAnime culture and then see Kokugikan, the Sumo stadium,home of this Japanese sport. We will also visit the Buddhisttemple of Sensoji, the oldest and most important temple inTokyo, with its 55-metre high pagoda. Then we will have somefree time to visit the traditional commercial district of Asakusa.Lunch included. Free time in the afternoon.

Day 3 TOKYO - MONT FUJI - KAWAGUCHIKO

We set out for the beautiful region of Mount Fuji, passingthrough pretty countryside on our way. We reach the idyllic cityof KAWAGUCHIKO with its tiny houses, flowers and mountains,and its beautiful lake. On our arrival, we will visit the FUJISENGEN SHRINE set in a magical site surrounded by tall trees,and the starting point of the traditional pilgrimage to themountain. At the shrine, we will express our thanks for beingable to visit this wonderful place. The trip includes the ascent bycable car to Mount Tenjo. The views of the neighbouring lakesand Mount Fuji are spectacular. The visit also includes adelightful boat trip on Kawaguchiko Lake. After lunch, we start toascend Mount Fuji on the road that takes us to the “fifth station”,surrounded by spectacular forests and views, to a height of2,305 metres. Note: In winter, the route is frequently closeddue to snow or other adverse weather conditions; during thisseason, we will ascend as far as the authorised point.Return to Kawaguchiko, with time to stroll near the lake. We willstay at a Ryokan (a traditional Japanese hotel), and have thechance to enjoy its ONSEN (public baths). Traditional Japanesedinner included.

Day 4 KAWAGUCHIKO - IYASI NO SATO NENBA - TOYOTA -NAGOYA

In the morning, we continue along the pretty road bordered bylakes to IYASHI NO SATO NENBA, a tiny village destroyed by atyphoon in 1966 and later restored as a traditional open-airmountain village and museum. Its traditional houses have beentransformed into arts and crafts shops, restaurants and traditionalmuseums. We then have the opportunity to admire theSHIRAITO FALLS, considered done of the most attractive sites inJapan, with a waterfall height of 150 metres. We will stop forlunch included in a service area and then continue to NAGOYA,the third most important city of Japan, on the shores of thePacific. Here we will visit the TOYOTA MUSEUM (admissionincluded), a must-see for motor lovers.

Day 5 NAGOYA - KYOTO

We are only 130 km (81 miles) from KYOTO. We leave at firstlight to spend all day in the city that was the capital of Japanfrom the year 794 to 1868 and home to the Imperial Court.During World War II the city was the only major Japanese toescape the bombardments, and so it still preserves its wealth ofartistic heritage; the famous protocol restricting greenhouse gasemissions was signed in Kyoto in 1997. The visit includes atrip to one of the most important parts of the city. We will see themarvellous Shinto Shrine of Fushimi Inari, the Imperial Palaceand Kinkakuji temple, “the golden pavilion” and its wonderfulgardens. Free time before visiting GION, a busy traditionalquarter famous for its Geisha. Free time.

Day 6 KYOTO - TSUMAGO - MATSUMOTO

We set out for TSUMAGO, passing attractive country scenery onour way. This small village with its wooden houses is one of theprettiest places in Japan. Free time to explore and lunchincluded. Then we continue to MATSUMOTO, a tourist city,where we will visit the impressive 16th century castle, known asthe “Crow Castle”. Free time to explore this bustling tourist city.Note: In some tours, we will not sojourn in Matsumoto but inNagano.

Day 7 MATSUMOTO - NAGANO - MONKEY PARK - KASATSU -TAKASAKI

Today our journey takes us through the beautiful Japanese Alps.In NAGANO, we will visit Zenkoji temple, a pilgrimage site wherethe first Buddhist image of Japan is located. Passengers willhave the opportunity to take part in the Gomakuyo ceremony thatbrings good luck. Then we continue through the mountains toMonkey Park, with lunch included and wander through its forestswith their rivers and thermal fountains where colonies ofJapanese monkeys live and bathe. Then our journey takes usthrough beautiful mountain scenery (reaching an altitude of 2,172metres) with semi-active volcanoes. KUSATSU is an attractivespa city with a lively main square. Our visit includes admission tothe Yumomi performance, with actresses who sing songs aboutthe traditional method for cooling spa waters. Then we can strollthrough the city park with its outdoor Onsen. Our journeycontinues to TAKASAKI, where we settle into our hotel.NOTE: In autumn, monkey migration is unpredictable as itdepends on the abundance of fruit in the mountains. If themonkeys do not go down to the park, it may be closed. In winter,the route may be changed due to weather problems (snow). Insuch cases we will use other roads and eliminate the visit to theMonkey Park. The visit to Kusatsu and the Yumoni performanceare cancelled from November to April due to weather conditions.

Day 8 TAKASAKI - NIKKO - TOKYO

In Takasaki we will climb the hill where Byakui Daikannon isfound, a gigantic statue honouring the Goddess of Mercy. Thenwe carry on to NIKKO, a fantastic town where we will visit theimpressive Nikko Toshogu Shrine and the hall of the cryingdragon. We will also visit the Taiyuinbyo Mausoleum, set in animpressive, peaceful site, followed by a walk near the river, inKanmangafuchi, under the watchful eye of hundreds of Jizostatues! Free time to visit the city centre before leaving forTOKYO.- We arrive at Tokyo at 7pm.- End of our services.
