CEO Dario Ottolini presents:

What is Solar Eclipse ?

It is a storage system based on an absolutely new and patented concept that puts it at the forefront of the solutions currently on the market.

Electrical devices and networks

Direct Current. Alternate Current.

only one conversion

~

As you all know, homes and businesses are powered by AC current. We all also want and must produce and store solar energy efficiently. However, we know that PV modules and batteries are DC components. Thus, it is necessary to convert the energy from DC to AC with an inverter. To do this, we believe it is essential that in a PV system there is ONLY ONE inverter to minimize conversion losses and costs.

The idea

The idea

• We think that photovoltaic cells and battery cells are components to be coupled directly in order to achieve high storage efficiency.

How the idea can work?

• To connect a DC / DC device directly to the PV modules to store energy in direct current (DC)

• Do not modify the PV plant

• Do not replace or install a new inverter

• Do not have any connection or consumption from the AC outlet

• At night, release the energy stored in batteries by the solar inverter as if it came from PV modules

Principle diagrams of EES storage systems

on the market.

Schematic diagram of grid-connected PV plant

100 - PV MODULES

101 - DC / AC INVERTER

103 - HOUSE LOADS

104 - GRID

This is the scheme of a PV plant without a storage system. Solar energy not self-consumed is fed into the grid. To avoid this waste, a storage system is necessary.

Traditional EES electrical scheme

200 - PV MODULES

201 - DC / AC INVERTER

203 - BATTERY

204 - INVERTER INSIDE TRADITIONAL EES SYSTEM

Traditional EES connect to AC, need 2 inverters to works (One of the PV plant and one inside the storage system ) and therefore need 3 energy conversions to operate: first conversion to cross the inverter one to store energy in the batteries one to withdraw it from the batteries Each of these leads to a loss of efficiency

Innovative EES wiring diagram

401 - PV MODULES

402 - BATTERY

403 - SOLAR ECLIPSE

407 - POWER METER

This is the diagram of a plant with Solar Eclipse. As you can see, only one conversion is needed. There is only one inverter in the PV plant. Higher efficiency, lower installation and maintenance costs.

DIAGRAM OF THE PV SYSTEM

Let’s see the schemes again with real devices. This is the scheme of the PV plant.

DIAGRAM WITH SOLAR ECLIPSE

This is the scheme with Solar Eclipse connected to DC current. A single inverter, a single energy conversion.

The Patent

The Patent

• On 2013 the patent application for industrial invention was filed.

• The Italian patent was issued in 2016 by the Trademark and Patent Office of Rome.

• In 2018, the European Patent Office of Munich issued the consent to the European patent.

• This year the patent will be also granted in USA and China.

The Production

• Solar Eclipse is 100% Made in Italy.

• ALL the electronic power boards are produced in the Padua plant.

• After assembly, each Solar Eclipse is tested (100% of production) including run-in and test of each function

Solar Eclipse DC-DC devices

• Light singlephase device

• Up to 5 kWh storage (n.2 Pylontech)

• Singlephase device

• Up to 10 kWh storage (n. 4 Pylontech)

• Threephase device

• Up to 10 kWh storage (n. 4 Pylontech)

Configure your System

Single-phase

and three-phase power meter

are available to configure your SOLAR ECLIPSE

system.

You can install up to 6 dc/dc

devices on the same plant

controlled by a single power

meter.

Infinite Compatibility

• Solar Eclipse is compatible with every kind of 48 V* battery packs and all grid inverters on the market.

* A higher voltage can be designed

TYPES OF BATTERIES USED

• Lithium

• Aquion S30

• Lead - Gel

Integrated Monitoring System

• PV Production

• Grid

• Batteries

• House Loads

MONITORING APP for FINAL USER

SolarApp – Real-time State / Grid

MONITORING PORTAL for INSTALLER

• Alarms check

• Configuration settings

• Battery state check

Conclusions

CONCLUSIONS

Solar Eclipse strengths • Three times more efficient: small and efficient because it works in

DC without an isolation transformer and avoids two DC-AC conversions compared to a traditional EES. Lower production, transport and installation costs

• Modular: it can cover a range of PV systems and storage capacities from 1 kW up to 200 kW

• No AC outlet: does not modify the existing connection because it does not need energy from the AC network

• Smart: on existing systems I do not replace or install a new inverter (always included in AC systems)

• Independent batteries: it can be configured with all the technologies. In addition, the batteries can be expanded and once exhausted, the electronics and the EES system are not lost

CONCLUSIONS

Solar Eclipse Marketing

• There is no reference price: It is not a product that can be found on the market with an "all-inclusive" solution and a finished price that can be easily compared by the user

• Different from all others: There is no such system as Solar Eclipse

• True 100% Made in Italy: The only storage system actually produced in Italy. Quality and assistance index, transmit trust and security

CONCLUSIONS Achieved results • More than 5000 systems installed throughout Italy until now.

• Patents: Italian, European, USA and China patents

• EES 2018 Intersolar finalist: We are honored that a team of Italian engineers has reached the milestone to be the finalists of the Intersolar EES Award 2018 in Munich as the most innovative and efficient system on the European scene.
