IT is two years since FarCry 3 arrived to acclaim.Now the series returnswith a new protagonist,location and villain.The tropical islands havebeen replaced by the mountain-ous terrains of Kyrat and thememorable villain Vaasreplaced by the equallyeccentric Pagan Min.You play as Ajay Ghale, anAmerican in Kyrat to spreadhis mother’s ashes.You are soon engulfed in acivil war, while learning ofyour family’s historic connec-tion here.The gameplay is largelyunchanged from its predeces-sor. Presented as a large, openworld, you are free to roam,avoiding the main questlinefor as long as you wish.You can still spendhours hunting to craftnew gear, or liberatecamps and “bell tow-ers”, a not-so-subtletwist on radio towersfrom Far Cry 3.These are supple-mented by an almostendless number ofside quests and it isall too easy tobecome detachedfrom the main plot.The story itself isalarmingly similarto the previous

game. Arrive in war-torn region run by eccentricdictator and fight for thegood guys.Time has instead beeninvested in polishing theexperience and adding aroundthe edges.The graphics are markedlyimproved thanks to the jumpto next gen and the map itselfis even larger.More quest variety has beenadded and your choicesthroughout the campaigngenerate some sense ofinvolvement.Far Cry 4 also adds empha-sis to multiplayer and co-opgameplay. The five vs fivemode seems promising butfaces fierce competition fromother outstanding multi-player FPS we have seen.

The PS4 version includesKeys to Kyrat, which letsyou to invite friends tojoin you in pretty muchanything but the maincampaign. That will bringhours of fun.Taken at face value,Far Cry 4 is a greatgame, but ultimatelyfans of the seriesexpecting an

entirely newexperience arelikely to be

leftdisappointed.

launch at Audio in Glasgow asa “game changer”.He explained: “We made up

our own visuals for the back-ground along with a five-min-ute intro video with scenes ofriots, war etc.“We were able to give peo-

ple more of a show ratherthan your everyday gig. Itreally opened our eyes to thepossibilities of how good wecan make our live shows.”Enemies Of The State plan

to go out on their first propertour next year, and arealready working on a fol-low-up to Awakening.Meanwhile, after its initial

release last month as a freedownload, they plan onreleasing a physical edition ofthe album next month, com-plete with a new song, Atlas.Enemies Of The State sup-

port Scots legends Big Coun-try at the Classic Grand inGlasgow on December 5.They round off the year
