LEED Project Score Card/Checklist contd..

• Excel sheet published by USGBC which summarizes the credits under each category and possible number of points

• Used to evaluate possibility of achieving each credit during the design phase

• Used estimate the number of points and target level of LEED Certification

• Download LEED Project Scorecard from here

LEED O+M

• No Design or Construction application

• Performance Period: A definite time period during which operations performance are measured for credit evaluation.

• Projects has to apply for recertification at least once in 5 yrs

CS – Pre Certification

• Precertification - formal recognition by GBCI that the owner or developer has established LEED for Core & Shell certification as a goal

• Optional

LEED for Homes Certification Process

• Establish contact with LEED Homes Provider establish a preliminary or target rating.

• Register the project with GBCI.• Project team proceeds with the project to meet the

targeted goals.• Green Rater performs inspections and required tests to

ensure the required performance targets are met.• Green Rater completes the project documentation and

submits it to LEED for Homes provider• LEED for Homes provides reviews the documentation and

submits it to GBCI for Review• GBCI reviews and provide the certification

Categories in LEED for ND

• Smart Location and Linkage• Neighborhood Pattern & Design• Green Infrastructure and Buildings• Innovation• Regional Priority

CIR – Credit Interpretation Request/Ruling

• Offer technical & administrative assistance to projects.

• Example - Project team requested assistance in approach for Construction pollution prevention where the rainfall is very less and hence no erosion or sedimentation associated with it

• CIR may be submitted at any time after the point in which a project is registered through LEED online.

• Each CIR to address only one credit or prerequisite, and should not exceed 600 words

• Not to submit drawings, documents or cut sheets

• CIR rulings do not guarantee the credit. It only approves the methodology or concept

• CIR rulings for LEED V3 and later rating system are project specific

• Refer to Reference Manual and references in reference manual before applying for CIR

• USD 220 – each CIR

LEED Interpretations

• LEED Interpretations are precedent setting CIRs which is applicable for other projects at similar situation

LEED Volume Program

• Streamlined approach to certify multiple buildings and spaces in different locations.

• Use of prototype standards —to simplify the LEED documentation for multiple buildings or spaces of a similar type or management, achieving certification faster and at a lower cost than with individual building reviews.

• Example Marriot can use LEED Volume program to certify all their properties

LEED Campus Program

• To certify multiple buildings on a single campus site and under the control of a single entity (like a corporate or educational campus, or a commercial development) using BD+C, ID+C, or O+M rating systems

• Its a simplified, speedier process offers cost savings

• Example Qatar University can use LEED Campus program to certify all their properties within the campus

How LEED Rating systems are developed…

• Draft LEED Rating Systems are developed by different committees and working groups

• Steering committee approves draft rating system• Rating system is then open for public review and

comments• Comments are incorporated• Rating system goes for voting, USGBC Members can

vote on the rating system• Rating system approved if 2/3rd of members vote

affirmative
