PART I – OVERVIEW OF AFP

AFP’s MISSIONThe Association of Fundraising Professionals, an

association of professionals throughout the world, advances philanthropy by enabling people and organizations to practice ethical and effective fundraising. The core activities through which AFP fulfills this mission include education, training, mentoring, research, credentialing, and advocacy.

AFP’s VISION

Fundraising is viewed as a credible and respected profession for civic betterment throughout the world.

Strategic Plan Goals1. AFP will develop skilled, knowledgeable and ethical professionals worldwide.2. AFP will advance effective, ethical and accountable fundraising standards as an

philanthropy, supporting principles important to AFP and the fundraising profession.

• Composition – All Chapter Presidents– Ex-officio non-voting representatives

• Selects members of the Committee on Directorship (COD)

• Elects a representative to the AFPBoard• Forum for networking, feedback, dialogue

and identification of issues

COMMITTEE ON DIRECTORSHIP (COD)

• Composition of COD– 1 member elected from each of 12 districts – 6 appointees or ex-officio members

• Role of COD– Evaluates all nominees for the AFPBoard– Creates slate of Directors to be elected by the

members
