What Is CitizenGulf?

• Open volunteer-created Citizen Effect program to help fishing families

• Centers around belief that BP & Obama won’t do enough

• Offers small actions so anyone can help

• Provides a better future via education

Why Should We Help?

Oil Spill Ending, Damage Remains

• Gulf was devastated five years ago by Katrina• BP oil spill has put tens of thousands of fishermen out

of work• Waters still toxified with oil AND dispersant• Mass marine deaths and toxins have entered food

chain• BP payouts to end after 6 months, many of the

affected families don’t “qualify”• END RESULT: Fishing in the Gulf will never be the

same, with no new opportunities

Need for New Futures

• Next opportunity for a fishers: Oil platform

• Generations taught to fish; that’s their life

• Many fishers drop out of schools in their teens

• Children in school now have best opportunity for a new life

Fact Finding Mission: Catholic Charities doing most with fishing families

After School Assembly Program

• Cath. Charities offering since Katrina

• CitizenGulf providing teacher salaries, special events & school supplies, games, math, reading & science curricula

• All monies go to program san credit card transaction fees
