City of Refuge Children’s
Home
Kingston, Jamaica
Summer 2011
In 1997 the City of Refuge was born in the hearts of missionaries, Steve and Kim Puffpaff. After many years of pastoring a church in Kingston, Jamaica, Steve and Kim began to see the plight of the homeless children that would wander into their services.

Twenty six acres of beautiful property overlooking the city of Kingston was purchased through money that was gifted by churches and
individuals.
The site of The City of Refuge was originally the Pine Grove Hotel. It accommodated guests and was known for serving delicious breakfasts . If offered spectacular views of the Blue Mountains and Kingston.
This is where we ate most of our meals. Every direction provided stunning views.
Rooms include bed, bathroom and NO hot water!!!!

Coffee Bushes!
Coffee Berries that were just picked from the bush!
This machine strips the shell off the coffee berries.
After the berries have been stripped of their shell, the beans are laid out to dry.
Here the beans are being separated – the smallest ones fall through the cylinder wall and are discarded.
Local Jamaican women who are employed by the City of Refuge sort the beans BY HAND – only the best beans are used in their Blue Mt. coffee.
The coffee beans were roasted the day before we left!!!
Cassandra has bagged the coffee and is now sealing it!
