Cleanliness Champions – Broadening your Horizons

20 – 2 – 30 – 2 – 3

20 - 2 – 30 (- 2 - 3)

• Happy Birthday Mr President

• Do you value 30 seconds in your life?

• Are there other things that have such an impact on others?

• Comb your hair• Eat an egg (yes, if it’s one of these)• Ignore someone• Open up 5 websites• Check your purse or wallet• Your own suggestions/experiences

Change the world in 20 - 30 seconds!

• Smile at a stranger • Donate to a charity• Pick up a piece of rubbish and

throw it in a bin• Let a car merge in front of you• Smell a flower – but not pick it

Change the world

• Give a compliment

• Turn off the TV

• Walk instead of drive

• Be quiet and listen!

Tell someone when they have………. snot hanging out of their nose, their zip’s unzipped, food on their face, false teeth aren’t in, size label’s hanging out of the back of clothes or........ anything else you wish someone would have told you!

Broadening your Horizons – what does that take?

• Courage• Commitment• Challenge• Counted• Co-operation• Champion the Champion?

(20 – 30) – 2 – 3 (Three little words)

How would you describe your CC role?• ‘ I need help’• ‘too busy today’• ‘very hard work’• ‘glad I’m one’• ‘unsure of ability’• ‘helps my patients’• ‘brings team together’

Leadership: do you have what it takes?

• Inspire• Innovate• Indispensible• Impact • Move from shadows to centre stage…….

‘Some are born leaders, some achieve leadership and some have leadership thrust upon them’ – paraphrased from Shakespeare Twelfth Night

Leadership • Saw MM singing to JFK:

visionary leader, enabling leader, encouraging leader, he instilled trust

• Trust – lies at the core of our relationship with our patients, colleagues and society

• Exemplify the values of our professionalism to our teams and colleagues

• As CC, if we don’t lead and protect on our shift, who will?

• If we don’t share our knowledge, skills and resources, who will?

• If we don’t become role models, who will?• If we don’t display courage, commitment,

challenge and co-operation, who will?

Protecting our patients, keeping them safe

• Take you back to numbers – many think it’s just a ‘numbers game’

• Measurement and counting may be essential to support progress but not sufficient in itself – we have to do what counts, as well as what has to be counted

• Are you a key player in a dynamic team?

• Are you ready to step out into the unknown?

• Value 30 seconds in your life – what really makes a difference?

• JFK Presidential Inaugural speech –‘Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country’

• So I’m asking…………‘Cleanliness Champions – what more can we do for our patients, our team, our organisation?’

Challenge the Champions

My 3 words?

STAND!

STAND UP!!

STAND UP, STAND OUT!!!

Broadening your horizons......a step too far or an inspiring prospect? Only you know!
